causes and diagonosis for thyroid problems

Hae
A few wks ago while I had a cold symptom, I found the swelling in my thyroid area (Right side only). No special symptoms except the swelling.
One night, with fever and pain in upper soft area of the back of inside of the mouth, I found more swellings in the same area. I took a cold medicine with antiinflammatory. Next morning the swelling looked much better.
Later, I found a little rigid area in thyroid area, right in the neck bone area.
I saw ENT doctor. I am waiting for the blood test and MRI results.

A wk ago, all of sudden, I had a pain in left side of thyroid area when I touched it even very slightly.
I did not disappear so far. I have had an allergic reaction - runny nose, conjestion.
Today I have a fever, pain when I swallow, swelling near thyroid area of the left side.

Any possiblities of thyroid problem due to the cold or weather allergy?
What do you suspect?

Thanks.

This website lists recommended endos. Make sure the endo treats at least half thyroid, not just diabetes: http://www.thyroid-info.com/topdrs/

You should request an ultrasound and some antibody tests to determine if an auto-immune condition is to blame. I have auto-immune Hashimoto's. Below were my symptoms prior to treatment:

Very cold feet and hands and sometimes a feeling like ants are biting my feet
Endometriosis (2 years ago – cured after one year of birth control)
Irregular/heavy periods and menstrual-like cramping in between periods
Voice is sometimes hoarse
Knee/joint pains – finger swelling and pain
Rash or scaly skin on neck, hands, chest, chin, nose, right armpit down to waist
Dry, gritty eyes
Chills
Muscles in legs sometimes go wobbly and weak when I am standing
Body temp ranges 97-97.5
Hair clumps in shower
Decreased sex drive
Aches all over body like the flu
Enlarged lymphnodes in neck and armpit
Legs feel heavy and swollen at times
Pain in the soles of my feet like muscle cramps
Toe nails feel painful and brittle

Hyper Problems:
Weight loss when not dieting
GERD/Heartburn/chest pain
diarrhea
anxiety
Abdomen swells for no apparent reason
Neck/jaw pain/swelling/pressure

Sore eyes
Hot flashes
Night throbbing/pounding in ears that wakes me
Tingling feet/hands/lips
Shaky hands
Stabbing pain below right ribcage
Pain in kidney and lower back area
Increased thirst, urination and a feeling like I have a bladder infection

Someone recently posted about a swelling throat problem that turned out to be from post nasal drip draining in the throat or something like that.

It will be good when the results come in.

It can be sign of subacute thyroiditis or infllammation of the lymph node at that area the ultrasound should be used to acess thae swelling and RAI test may indicate reduced uptake at the swollen side.
