Hyperthyroidism

These are my blood test results
T4,Free(Direct)  result 1.68 units ng/dl range 0.82-1.77
TSH result 0.221 uIU/ml range 0.450-4.500
They ran the tests because of following problems, very high anxiety, mood swings, weight loss. They did try different antidepressents but they made my anxiety a lot worse. Could I have hyperthyroidism? they did not do the T3

Yes, all of those (and many more) are symptoms of hyper.  I think you've found your answer.

Yes, an ultrasound is standard.  It's always a good idea to see the physical makeup of your thyroid.  Your doctor seems to be covering the bases.  You might ask him to run TSI also.  It could save you some time when you get in to see the endo.  Initial appointments can take some time.  So, the more you can have done and take with you, the sooner you'll get treatment.

No these results came from my Family doctor, he is going to refer me to a endocrinologist but is on vacation this week. Said I would also have to have a thyroid ultrasound before going to endo. is this normal.

Yes, it looks like you have hyperthyroidism.  Your doctor should now test FT3 also.  He should run a TSI (thyroid stimulating immunoglobulin) to see if you have Graves' disease.  Graves' is far and away the #1 cause of hyper.  Your symptoms are also consistent with hyper.

Have you discussed your results with your doctor yet?
