hello I'm Jillybeen222... I'm new to the community, but not new to thyroid complications. I've been reading many of the posts and questions, I've learned a couple things and feel I can add a couple things. My story fits many others, I was hit with Graves in "95" ..knowing something was wrong after my second child was born, doctor said I was suffering from post partum depression and put me on Paxil, I experienced problems w/ paxil the first dose, continued to go back to the doctor and he wanted to give me another anti-depressant.. No way I said. For 2 years knowing something was terribly wrong w/ me I went to see a nurse practitioner, and he ordered tests and of course had to see a specialist/endo. went through the Radio Active Iodine treatment, And after reading exactly what the "Storm" was I now realize I went through that as well, because right after the RAI I was put on 2 different meds, one I am sorry I cannot remember which caused arthritis type symptoms (so bad that I needed my husband to carry me, or one day carrying a gallon of milk from the car to the house killed my shoulder the next day) then Beta-blockers to keep my heart rate down until my levels were level so to speak.. Oh and not to mention the night tremors I had for many months after the treatment, I went to the hospital freaking out cuz my heart rate was so rapid that it reached 150bpm.. well that'll teach me for forgetting beta-blockers w/out dr. approval.
So I ask if anyone remembers being put on the one med right after the radio active iodine, if they experienced pain in arm, legs hands from simple daily activities and the beta-blockers.
Well to make this a bit quicker, I ended up on levothyroxine for 11 years, never felt myself since, and just 4 days ago I began the Armour thyroid, I was lucky to get the dr. acceptance of my request to try the Armour I hear so many compliments and how much it has positively changed a person. This is a country doctor and she didn't even hesitate writing me a prescription, actually she was more willing because of the natural thyroid hormone, and it's benefits of both T3 and T4 which were all learning now(or it's just me just learning now) that Armour has and the levo, syn. has not. So far with Armour I do have more energy, chipper, better mood, quicker to think and speak what I think.. And I have lost a few pounds (which is not my concern as of yet, and no I'm not 112lbs. either*I wish*, actually I'm too much for my height or to short for my weight, however our glass is full or empty...) So this is my story, and I'm glad to have found this community and would like to share with others and perhaps learn from one another. Have a good evening.
