Reading what everyone has written has helped me understand what I may be going through. I was diagnosed with graves 5 years ago. I did all the treatment out there before resorting to the radioactive iodine treatment. I have not been on any meds since because at that time the perfect amount of thyroid was killed off and I was able to have some thyroid left to still function normal. I was told that could change over time. I continued testing occasionally in case of any changes. Now, I need to test again, I have been having horrible painful joints in my knees and wrists and thumb joints. I will see the dr again soon. Keep everyone posted.
Also do you all have problems in your mouth? I dunno if its the meds or medical problem, like the skin peeling in your mouth. Sounds wierd but thought i would ask.
I hope you start feeling better!!:) My rhem. dr told me thyroid problems cause lots of aches & pain. It was my knee, shoulder and ankle. Really hurt when i was hypohell:(
I'm feeling for you I keep you in my prayers and thoughts. get the rest you need. Take Care-Pam
When I was in hypohell my body ached soooo bad I would take advil pm to rest. I work in a 2 mile long building and it was just torture to walk from the parking lot to my section and chasing parts was a nightmare.Oh and did I mention my boobs growing froma c cup to a D cup and hurt like I was lactating.Happi;y my boobs have gone back to the C cup and now I have 3 bras that are too big.About a month after I was back on my levthyroxine the pains and aches went away. Now I only hurt when my trainer makes me do lunges and squats.(Everyday)lol
Start lfting weights to build up your muscles and it will also build up bone mass. That is how I am looseing weight at the gym I go 5 times aweek and it is making such adifference in my body.(I think that is why ifeel pretty good too)
But remember this will eventually pass. When you are on your med.and if it doesnt then B!@#ch to your doc till they listen.

How do you get your muscles built back up, i have not had the RAI but I am always in pain, I am about to seek a pain managment cilnic. Oh and when I said solid goiter above I meant solid nodule, Doc Mark said it should be rebiopsy, surgeon suggest to take it out and test it since my first biopsy turned out they didnt get what they needed it was to far back.
I had Graves' disease and am now permanent hypo with regulated numbers. Had a lot of pain before RAI, but afterwards it got worse and now many years later am still having lots of pain. Wonder lots of times if it is not b/c of muscle wasting from being unregulated hypo for many years. Also RAI causes you to have joint pain as a side affect.
Am hoping when I get some muscle built back up and get back into some kind of shape other than big blob the pain will get better.
Good luck to you.

Do you have the same thing? The Endcor i am going to thinks I am crazy and tells me I shouldnt be having any problems because i am on the med for thyroid replacing that hormone and on steroids replacing the cortizone in the adrenal glands.
TONS of pain. Mainly in my legs and shoulders.
I have had many problems since December and it's still going on, I was diagnaosed with thyroiditis and adrenal insuff., for the last 2 years i was told i was Hypo and there was a virus showing on my thyroid by a NP, well seemed to turn out to be goiter on each lobe and nodule on thyroid well one goiter they say is solid so i might be having it that lobe taken out to be tested it is only1 mm and they didnt get nothing they needed when they done my biopsy. Needless to say about pain Oh my, I have had arm pains, numbness in fingers, i can barely walk for more than 15 minutes due to my right leg pain which seems to be a sciatic nerve problem, and now my feet and ankles are always in pain to, am I the only one like this??? I am not the same person i used to be I dont even want to go anywhere anymore and my family is now suffering due to all my problems. The docs say my thyroid and adrenal are in the right range but i been told by another opinion them nubers dont mean anything with the goiters and nodule. Any answers here?
You know, that's one of the things that took me to the doc back in January when all of this started. Along with the depression, weight gain, fatigue, etc., my hip joints both ached something horrible. At first I thought it may have been from the 25 pound weight gain in a short amount of time. I'm sure it didn't help, but I've never had hip problems before. She actually gave me a lab slip to have x-rays done and said it could be arthritis. That was the same day as I had my bloodwork done. Needless to say, I never made it to the lab for my x-ray. Eventually, my joint pain went away, and the only thing I can think of is that that's when my thyroid levels were actually okay. I haven't had any troubles since. I was doing strength training & aerobic classes at the time, and it didn't make it better or worse. I don't know. It wouldn't hurt for you to go get it checked out, though.

Im about to the point of seeing a doc for my wrist. Its really painful if I move it side to side and if I try to lift anything..the pain is beyond BAD. I cant think of anything I have done to it and have been wearing the brace for 3 days or so and its not helping....I mention seeing a dr to my hubby and he just rolled his eyes. I know hes thinking....oh great another dr bill ....but shoot!
Do those on synthroid who are hyper on purpose risk the same side effects as those who are hyper bcz thyroid not working well ?
C~
I seem to have joint pains when I'm both hypo & hyper. I was having such bad muscle & joint pains last fall I thought I had lupus but it turns out I had come out of remission & was hyper again. And since my TT when I've been hypo I've had pains here & there. My joint pains are back and I think I'm swinging hyper again, we'll see. So I have them no matter what but they're definitely worse when hyper. Crazy, huh?

Sorry this is happening to you now .. my ankle problems are unrelated to thyroid but they strung it along thinking it was thyroid related for 8 mos ........so tread the line on a fine line when working thru this.
Not fun.

I've heard that hypo problems can cause carpel tunnel like sensations. Mine do the same thing -- and then fingers go a little numb. From everything I've read, hypo can cause some sort of fluid retention - or excess accumulation - and it can get in your joints -- especially in wrists, ankles and knees. Then it puts pressure causing numbness and pain.
hope you're better soon :)
