night sweats

Hi everyone!

To keep from boring those that have read my story and had to listen to it several times, I will not give all the details of my journey with this thyroid mess. If anyone would like they can read my posts or PM me for more details.

For the last 2 days, I have been experiencing night sweats. I was wondering if anyone else with hypothyroidism has these issues.

Can this mean my thyroid is starting to respond to the meds or any other thoughts that anyone could shed some light on would be greatly appreciated....

Have you had your FSH and other female hormones checked or is this because of the thryoid?

I can relate to the sweats, but I can get them randomly anytime...and they are intense.  It's like an inferno from my very core, burning to the outside and it can last anywhere frm 20 minutes to 45 min.  People won't come near me because I give off so much heat.  It's so bad my hair gets all wet like I just finished working out.  I'm trying to pinpoint if anything brings it on, but so far I can't make that determination.
I keep small refreezable packets frozen all the time.  They work great, but I can melt them down in no time all.
My new endo's first comment was the dreaded change and hot flashes.  Why is that the classic response from a male doctor?  Had he read my history he would have seen that I had a complete hysterectomy many years ago.  It's not hot flashes.  I've had them and this does not compare.
My family Dr. (female) assured me it was thyroid related.
What puzzles me is I was diagnosed with Hasimoto's thyroiditis.  Doesn't that usually have cold spells instead of hot ones?

If you ask me, that is too much time to have tenderness (pain really), right??

Hi Peg

No bore at all ask away......

I had them at the beginning of my Armour treatment. I swore it was menopause coming on and thyroid illness will put a woman into early meno. so logically I thought this was happening to me.

I had a LSH and FH test done wheich tells if you are in menopause - My doctor than said the test was normal - but I shared the tests with my new doctor and he says I am reading lower - but still within the follicular stage (regular cycle)

They lasted for months at night at times more than during the day. Now boing balanced I don't get them really. I mean right before my period I get a night or two - but I am not sweating though the sheets anymore.

I think it really is the hypo AND I think the longer we are in the range WE can wreak our bodies to put us in meno to early.

Only my thought - not proven - but for me it makes sense.

I have had night sweats since my second laporascope for endometreosis. I have been having them worse lately.  I wake up with the collar to mid chest wet with sweat mosts nights.  I always attributed it to hormones of the female kind, but, now I am not so sure.  Back then I had surgery for endometreosis because my monthly was a constant thing.  I wonder how much of my life I might have had some sort of thyroid malfunction now though.  I know that the mentrual cycle can be affected by thyroid, I don't know however if they ever checked mine back then.  Now I am having the opposite affect.  No monthly in April, 3 weeks in May and now that June is essentially over, nothing for June either.  Funny enough, I still get the breast pain as if I was going to, but nothing happens and the pain is here for longer.  Keeping a calendar and June 11-22 WITHOUT breast tenderness.  Does anyone else have this going on?

Hi.  Just curious.  I call night sweats when I wake up feeling soaked.  However, I do not  feel hot.  I usually wake up wet and cold.
Then again I'm usually cold in the house.  The temp is set at 71 and I freeze (I think due to low iron).  Yet when I go outside and it's 80 with humidity, I sweat very bad and get lightheaded within 5 minutes doing nothing.  Go figure.  I Don't Know   ?????   GRRRR

Where's that straightcoat?  LOL

thanks for the feedback. I'm glad you told me because the GYN is wanting to put me on estrace. I hate to take another pill, when it could be just thyroid related. However, I am 45 so go figure. I am just grasping at straws.

Missouri, I am so glad your husband is helping you. Mine does not know what to do, so he plays ostrich. He has been helping out with the dishes and laundry, to I am thankful for that.

I have night sweats as well and my new doctor catagorized it with thyroid issues. I know it isn't the change of life for me as I'm only 28. It also isn't a side effect of any of my meds. I don't know why I have them, but when I go to the doctor I will try to ask him and let you know what he thinks mine are. Once I start to get hot it feels like I'm in a creamatorium and I can't cool back down, it is misearable. My husband has been giving me an icepack to put under my pillow, under my neck when I go to sleep and it seems to help all night, but doesn't make me cold. I'll pray for you to find relief.

Hi.  Well I have only been taking thyroid meds now for a month.

I too have been having night sweats and massive body aches.  Heart palps and chest pains are back and my ovaries are awake and sore again also.

I'm guessing they are thyroid related.  As far as why I'm sorry and don't have a clue.

I had these same symptoms 3 years ago.  I don't believe it is the change of life thing anymore.  That is one yet to endure.  LOL.

I am curious on this myself.  I hope you receive an answer to this.

Sorry I'm not much help.  Take Care.
