???overdose of synthroid

I am taking synthroid .112 mg daily.  I took my pill at 8 am today. Then this evening I took another one at 12 midnight, 16 hours later (by mistake).

Would this be considered an overdose? Just wondering if I should be worried? ( I have been on this dosage for a couple of years now and my thyroid levels are stable. )

I get it!!  My cat is a real pain in the night, too, and sometimes gets me out  of bed.  I have had to reach in my drawer and grab some ativan just to get back to sleep.  So far, I haven't grabbed the wrong thing, knock on wood.  So I can relate . . .

I was taking another medication before going to bed. Had a couple of drinks and was up later than usual, also got distracted by my cats and picked up the wrong bottle and took the synthroid instead. Just not thinking.

Thanks to everyone for the advice. I was really worried last night. Today I feel fine. I will just continue on as normal and hopefully will be more careful from now on.

You should be ok as long as there is an eight hour spread.  If you took a pill at 12 midnight you should be ok to take next dose  at approx 8 AM.  Then go back to normal routine.

I agree with utahmomma.  But why would you take one at midnight?  Just curious.

Nope - don't worry about it.  Just skip tomorrow's dose.  Thyroid hormones take a long time to adjust so taking and additional one or missing a dose shouldn't be a concern.  I have a hard time remembering if I took my dose or not (I'm not a morning person) so I bought one of those "pill a day" cases so I know whether or not I took it.

The dosage would be equal to 112 mcg. I am in Canada so we use .112 mg instead.

Thats an unusual dosage you are taking.. I shouldn't be worried as the meds as a cumulative effect over a long term, just take as normal tomorrow..
