I've had painless lymph gland swelling in my neck for approx. 2 years. When I first noticed it I asked my doctor to check it out. She ordered some blood work and told me that sometimes they will enlarge for no apparent reason. My blood work all came back within limits. Last month my heart rythmn began to act up and all of the cardiology tests came back good, but he noticed the swelling in my neck and suggested it might be something going on with my thyroid. Both my mother and grandmother were hypothyroid and my grandmother also had a goiter removed.
My TSH was 4.31 last month when the heart was acting up.
I went back to my PCP and she sent me for an ultrasound. I'm not sure what all of the terminology in the report means and could use some help figuring it out.
The right thyroid lobe measures 4.7 x 1.7 x 0.9 cm for a volume of 4.0 cc.
The left thyroid lobe measures 4.4 x 0.9 x 1.2 cm for a volume of 2.5 cc.
Glands are relatively homogeneous in echotexture. There is one isoechoic nodule demonstrated medial mid right thyroid lobe 0.9 cm in maximal longitudinal diameter.
If this makes sense to anyone, I would appreciate your input. Thanks!
