question about TSH

Hello all~

Has anyone ever heard of someone feeling better with a higher TSH than 1.  I am currently on 100 mcg of Synthroid and my TSH is around 1.  However, it seems that when I am on a lower dose of Synthroid, I feel better.  Could this possibly be because my ferritin is just 13.  It seems that the higher the dose of Synthroid the more weight I gain.  I am so perplexed.  Thanks for your help.

I don't know ... I'm too early in the game to say .. I've never been under 2's in my life so this is all new terrirtory.

I'm on 88mcg's of Synthroid and not sure .... I'm bordering anxiety but not really ... moreso if something is bothering me it kicks in more readily .. that is how I can best describe it .. a bit less patient with things, too but feeling better in the constipation dept (to be blunt) .. so interesting.  Weight is still the same but less appetitie .. like I don't have pangs for lunch or bkfst whereas when TSH was higher 2's I'd be like, "Geez, I'm so hungry when can I have my bkfst .. is 1/2 hr up now after taking my med to eat ???" .. now I have to think .. "Hmm ... time to eat bkfst .."  Same goes for lunch and if I snack before dinner I really could pass on dinner completely but I don't as it isn't healthy.

I know .. those are more hypo symptoms but this is what I see being "hyper" now.

I'm sure I have read about someone who felt better when their TSH was higher - couldn't locate the post though sorry.  Seems perfectly reasonable though, we are all individuals with different 'settings'.

It wouldn't hurt to start a iron supplement - just take at least 4 hours apart from your Synthroid.  It is definately a possiblity that the low iron levels are affecting things because you don't have a level playing field to start with because you are close to or do have iron deficiency by some reference ranges.  Actually, I really recommend you start an iron supplement.

A lot of people get consitpated with iron supplements - but iron is always absorbed better with Vitamin C, which can also help reduce constipation.  A glass of orange juice with your tablet is okay but a Vitamin C tablet/chewable will be much more effective.

Wishing you wellness!

I honestly felt  better when by TSH is around 9, but the dr's won't believe me. Also I'm  not sure my TSH is ever correct because of Hashitoxosis, and it fluctuautes rapidly.
