synthroid dosage
So I quit smoking and my TSH went from 2 to 9. The doctor said she thinks my target dose will be 75 but when I looked at my script it said 50.
Is it normal to go up to a dose slowly over time or do you think she made a mistake and I should call?

Yes I was at 25 and went up to 25. You mentioned dosage is done in 12 to 25 mcg increments. That make sense, thanks.
Did 50 mcg represent an increase? What had your dose been previously?
There's really no way to predict what the "target" dose will be. Starting out on a low dose and increasing slowly is the best way to go. That minimizes the possibility of going hyper or having hyper-like symptoms from increasing too fast. Typically, dose changes are made in increments of 12.5-25 mcg.
