synthroid

I've had my thyroid removed as a result of papillary cancer.  I now take 200mg once in the morning and once in the evening.  What kind of foods should I avoid so I can have better absorbtion.  I've read that fiber can be an issue.  Thank you.

Your question about foods is interesting to me since Synthroid's in my future.  Did a little web trawl looking for answers.

Seems like the big hazards are supplements and meds taken too soon before or after the Synthroid, but the Physician's Desk Reference also includes this:

"A high-fiber diet, soy-containing supplements, and walnuts can also interfere with the effects of levothyroxine."

The PDR's list of meds and supplements that can interfere with Synthroid is here (though you've got to scroll down a way):

I'm not really sure on the foods to avoid but really important not eat for at least 1/2 hr if not longer in the AM for full absorption.  Have they tested your level at the 200mcgs I assume it is ..  you have mg which would be 20mcgs so not sure as the pill comes in 25mcgs if it's Synthroid.

When was your surgery?

I, too, have papillary and take it for supression.
