"he said "i want to make sure they got it all""  An ultra sound will do that.

he said "i want to make sure they got it all".   so even if they leave a piece of thyroid it can still produce?  sounds more like something you would find living under the sea than something that works as part of your body LOL

still searching for a doc that knows what hes doing rather than how much hes making in Dallas.

"Thyroid peroxidase assists the chemical reaction that adds iodine to a protein called thyroglobulin, a critical step in generating thyroid hormones."

Both TPO and TG are used in the production of thyroid hormones, you have no thyroid and can't possibly produce hormones, so I can't imagine why he's running those tests.  Maybe he likes your insurance.........lol

Remember, our "rule of thumb" is just that - it's not set in stone and doesn't apply to everyone.  Some of us are finding that we do well, on lower levels of hormones.  My latest labs were lower than they have been, as well and I feel good.

Target what makes you feel best, not just a number that someone says you should have.

ok .  well i didnt have cancer but hes running it.   more labs came back today.  6 weeks on new dose synthroid.  i feel better with worse labs, higher tsh and lower frees.  makes no sense.  the higher dose of medication makes me feel worse.   I just dont understand this anymore.

Thyroglobulin is a marker for cancer.  If the person who had TT, had cancer, the doctor would be remiss NOT to run thryoglobulin, in order to make sure cancer doesn't return in case there might have been thyroid tissue left behind.
