testing after thyroidectomy

I had a complete thyroidectomy and the pathology did show papillary cancer.  No further tx (per surgeon and endocrinologist)  needed except for synthroid as the cancer was micro and contained.
I see an endocrinologist every 6 months for a tsh level.  Is this the norm?...or do some doctors run other tests such as u/s or other lab tests?

How is the dosage decided post-surgical removal of the thyroid?  Is it possible to be healthy with the same dosage after the surgery as I was taking before the thyroidectomy?

After my total thyroidectomy, the doctor tested me at 6 weeks, 3 months, then 6 months later.  Now that my levels have been stable for a while, I get tested once a year - tests have always been T3, T4 and TSH.  There really isn't a need for ultrasound any more unless there is a suspicion that the tiny part of the thyroid that is inevitably left behind has started growing again.  That likelihood will be indicated in your blood test most likely and is not common.
