thyroid ultrasound question

The ultrasound tech said today that my thyroid had no nodules but appeared heterogeneous, irregular and vascular. What does that mean?

Could be a sign of past or current inflamatory  processes;
may need to have antibodies checked.

That's a similar description to what a thyroid being attacked by antibodies will look like.

Swelled or enlarged and not normal looking is what it means in plain English. Most hypos have that with a nodule or two.

Note: many people with out thyroid problems have non cancerous nodules on their thyroid gland, but feel well.
