thyroidectomy for graves' disease

I was diagnosed with Graves' Disease in 2001 and my symptoms were incredibe fatigue and pain all over that felt like my muscles and bones were being pulled apart.    When put on the methimazole, the aches and fatigue stopped immediately.   After 5 years, however of being on the methimazole, still could not control TSH for correct levels and has thyroid removed.  My question:

1 year after my thyroid was removed, the same aches and fatigue returned and was told i have fibromalgia and put on cymbalta for pain relief.   I read one of the posts that suggested that even though the thyroid is removed, i can still have the autoimmune graves' disease and if anyone out there also has this, please advise what is helping you.

Thank you in advance for your help.

I had RAI for Graves' and months later had severe muscle pain and fatigue, because my dr was focusing on TSH.  It's very important to test Free T3 and Free T4.  These correlate best with symptoms.  TSH is now useless for me and doesn't correlate with symptoms at all.

Please post your latest test results.

Some symptoms can apply to either/both hyper and hypo. Agree that you  may need an adjustment in meds.

Antibodies (TSI) can persist even after a TT.  However, with no thyroid, there is nothing to attack and stimulate.

Perhaps your meds are not adjusted properly?  Please post recent thyroid labs and reference ranges (ranges vary lab to lab and have to come from your own lab report).
