topamax

About 1.5 yrs now I have been on Topamax. Also around that time, my thyroid started acting up. I started losing my hair, cold hands and feet, feeling very tired, bad memory etc.. Now my symptoms have escalated. My memory is to the point where I can’t even remember simple words. I am depressed all the time and can’t get out of bed during the day. Then I can’t sleep at night.

I'm having a hard time separating the side affects from the Topamax and the thyroid, which got me thinking. I didn't have a bad thyroid until I started taking Topamax. So I did some checking around and found a few other people who didn't have any problems with their thyroid until after they were on Topamax. Here's my question. Do you know of anyone else who has hyperthyroidism that is on Topamax?

On what basis did you decide you are hyperthyroid now?How about posting your thyroid related test results and their reference ranges, and telling us about all your symptoms, so we can better assess your status.

Just saw your post--I am having the same problems with Topamax...did you ever get a resolution?  I was always hypOthyroid---and now I am hyPER after taking Topamax for a year.......
Having to go to a specialist for thyroid.....
The Topamax also made me very "stupid"--but, I am retired now--and was willing to put up with it since it is helping me with my mood swings.
I am concerned with this thyroid stuff.  Any help?
