trachea displacement due to thyroidectomy

Is this possible? Has this happened to anybody? I had a partial thyroidectomy , left lobe taken out, and feel like my trachea is not straight. Causing discomfort in my whole throat. Any comments on this?

I had my surgery done on 5/1/08. Today, the feeling is really bad. I went to lay down and couldn't even get comfortable.
I go back to the Endo on aug 12th. I'm gonna tell him and see what happens. I am also moving out the country, just north to Canada. That's at the end of this month, so I can't really get myself involved in tests before I go. I will have to wait till I get there.
Thanks to you and the others who responded to my question.

I had a growth that turned out to be scar tissue unrelated to the surgery that was pressing in on my trachea after my surgery .... but my trachea from the surgery was fine.  Now, you could have scar tissue pressing that would possible give that feeling but you need to talk and go to Dr or ENT and have tests done.

PS:  When was your surgery done?

Hi Linda,
Just wanted to let you know I'm having my left lobe removed tomorrow as well.  I'll let you know if I experience the same problem.  I would imagine that it might feel weird because of the fact that something is missing on one side and not the other, if that makes sense, so it feels like the trachea is lopsided.  Sorry I can't help you further, but I'll let you know if I get the same thing.

Take care.

Linda I think this may be rare -

BUT I know... a mind that is at ease is much better than one stressing.

I think a simple MRI or even Xray will help you IF this really is a problem.
