weight gain with hypothyroid

is weight gain from hypothroid fat,water or fluid? i havent taken my med in 2 weeks and am having alittle weight gain. how long for that to go away after taking meds?

You're right, vitamins/minerals, particularly calcium should not be taken within 4 hours of thyroid medication, as they can inhibit absorption.

I did not realize it was 4 hrs, maybe ill take it at night before bed, then there should be nooo problem

Hello my bottle says to not take vitamins or minerals for 4 hours after taking levothyroxin.

FYI 4 days later and no more constipation and the weight is coming off.

Just a thought but you may want to take your Thyroid meds separate from other vitamins.

I believe that calcium can affect the absorption of thyroid medication.

i procrastinated getting it refilled ,then it slipped my mind,i also take daily vitamins,so i wasnt missing that tiny pill because i was taking things,(wasnt missing it until constipation,weight gain etc kicked in) then i was like oh yea my synthroid! shame on me

When you are hypothyroid, your metabolism is lower than normal for your height, weight, and age.  So, the weight gain is the same as if you were overeating or not exercising enough.
