Have you tried Tirosint? The only ingredients are the active T4, water and glycerin, which makes it basically hypoallergenic. Since it's a T4, only med, you might have to add a T3 component, such as cytomel with it.
I've been on Tirosint, since shortly after it came out, nearly 2 yrs ago and doing pretty well on it.
the struggle to find a thyroid medication for a hypothroid condition is one i am in currently, too. for twenty years i was healthy and happy on the original old armour thyroid. when it was reformulated by forest, i could no longer take it as it made me very ill.
that was two years ago. since then i have tried many different hypothyroid medications with no success. they all have side effects i can't tolerate--so you are not alone at all.
currently, i am taking erfa, 30mg, with not much luck because it gives me diarrhea--as have all the other hypothyroid meds i tried since the good old original armour went out of existence. and, my tsh is 45. but my doctors and i haven't given up. we are going forward to find a medication i can tolerate. you deserve to find a med that works for you. don't give up.
how do you know you have encepalopothy? That is a very rare condition and is usually diagnosed by a brain scan. Have you had this? Most people who are correctly diagnosed with this illness have dementia and are treated with prednisone. Are they treating yours with prednisone?
Have you ever been tested for adrenal insufficiency? The 24 hour urine cortisol test is considered best.
I ask this because your symptoms when taking thyroxine sound like they could be a reaction to something called adrenal fatigue, which occurs after extended periods of low thyroid hormones, causing excessive stress on the adrenals. You can get some good info from this link.

Also,I found this. Hyper-like symptoms can occur from doses of thyroid meds that shouldn’t produce those symptoms, including anxiety or nervousness, shakiness, dizziness, racing heart, nausea, feeling hot, or any symptom which seems like an over-reaction to the meds, but are really symptoms of low cortisol.
they dont stop though! i have hasimotos thyroiditis and hashimotos encephalopathy i also have lupus so that doesnt help- my last labs were hasimotos antibodies ^1000 and t.s.h. levels were over 300. (not .30 but 300.) and of couse cholsetral numbers were off the charts becuase of it. no heaart issues at all and just arthitis from the lupus
they have tried me on all dosages of synthryoid, levothorixine and even compouned a drug made from my blood but nothing works! also armour thyroid was tried - and i tried them all for 3 months each so its not like i gave up right away or anything- its gotten so bad that i would rather wait to stroke out and die then have to take the meds! i dont know what else to do nothing helps
You need to take your meds, the side effects will stop after a month or so, just give it time. I'm hypothyroid on levo. What is your diagnosis and meds?
You are not alone my friend. What are you taking? Labs?
