just sending you good wishes ginnygirl, sounds like you're having a rotten time. your rhematologist's attitide sounds like the last thing you need, I'd complain about his behaviour towards you, sounds like he needs some training in basic communication and listening skills, let him and/or his boss know, you'd be doing him and his other patients a favour!
Thank you so much for your comments, and to thyroidian, it's interesting you mentioned an endocrinologist because when I had my last visit with the rheumatologist, I mentioned that to him and all he did was correct the way I said it and didn't refer me to anyone or acknowledge anything. I would really like to post on here what my levels are, but that is supposedly being left up to my primary care physician and without my approval, my OBGYN contacted my rheumatologist who hasn't helped me and asked them to be my primary and they said yes, but they are quite strict about spacing appointments out and I am not due to see them again until March.I don't think I can wait until March to get some of this under control. When I find out my levels, I will be sure to post. and thank you all, it is really appreciated. I will definately follow thyroidian's advice and see an endocronologist and I have been getting plenty of correct vitamins as daisy_ adviced. thanks again.
I know that my mom has fibromyalgia and hashimoto/hypothyroidism. Her symptoms finally improved after being on Armor Thyroid making sure that her TSH was on the higher of things. Of course it depends how you FEEL on it. But usually to offset the highs and lows of this disease more conventional methods are to treat it toward the higher end of the TSH....so AWAY from the infamous and old styled 5.0 TSH mark. Try shooting for a nice TSH of 1.0 to 2.0. Took about 6 months and tons of doctors to find the right doctor that knew how to treat it but she's fine now and takes Vit B, C and D and magnesium every day.
Right lets start at the hypothyroidism, are you taking any medication for this?
If so what? and what dosage?
Have you got any recent blood results for your thyroid, eg FT3, FT4, TSH, and anti-bodies.etc
If you have please post them im sure some off the more experienced members will help you with these.
Cholesterol, issues can go hand in hand with hypothyroidism, and when or if your hypothyroidism gets treated appropiately, your cholesterol levels will maybe come into range.
Maybe you should asked to be tested for thyroid anti-bodies, you say you had hives for four years, well a lot off thyroid patients with auto-immune thyroid conditions get hives very frequently.
It sounds to me like you have a lot off things going on in your system which are wrong, i would suggest that the rheumatologist, who said you need an pyschiatrist, needs to get it right and get you an endocrinologist,
That is my oppinion, you need an endocrinologist, and dont let them fob you off.
Hope this helps
Take care
Nicola
