Brain Injury & Head out of Shape

Hello,
I had 'something' push into my skull on the Sphenoid/Parietal bone junction. It was a sudden & significant amount of force and the thing that pushed my skull in was small like a .50 cent piece (so the force was acutely focused in that spot).
It felt like I got punched in the brain at the time, and my head swelled up in that spot.

I awoke with the worst headaches I have ever had for a few days after the event. I believe that I was concussed because the 2 weeks after the event are very, very fuzzy (I barely remember those weeks), and I had extreme headaches, vision issues, cognitive issues, sensitivity to light and even greater sensitivity to sound. I SHUTTERED at every firework explosion during July 4th. I have trouble with memory recall, even simple things like words, controlling emotions, my speech filter is different now… I blurt things out that I would have never said before this, doing math in my head is very hard (I was very good at that before) and I have sudden shooting pain that goes from the damaged spot through to the exact opposite side. I thought I was having a stroke last week because it hurt so bad, & I felt like a piece of my brain was literally cut out after that (I have felt very unintelligent ever since as if I lost a piece of my brain).
My skull is now slightly out of shape in a few areas; A ridge and dent on the top, a trench on the side and a big bump on the rear of skull (I know this definitively because I have been bald for years and shave my head a couple of times per week). It seems like the game "Whack a Mole" where one spot was pushed in so other areas pushed out?
Also, I can now put my finger in the trench between the two skull plates on the side in question but not on the opposite side.

I had a headache for 2 straight months after the event, then a headache about every other day for 2 months, and now 6 months later I have headaches at least 2 times per week.  I also have a Constant feeling of pressure on my brain, in that exact spot. I have sudden shooting pain under the injured area and on the exact opposite side of my brain. This happens sporadically (2 times per month now maybe, more initially).

My brain is always cloudy. Writing this post is difficult for me. Work has been extremely hard. I have huge problems reading and understanding new topics also.

CT Scan and MRI show no skull damage but I am 1000% positive that my skull is out of shape. The MRI shows "Ischemic change deep right frontal lobe” (The EXACT spot of the injury) but a neurologist says it’s ‘likely not of clinical significance’ and will not elaborate beyond that and will not even talk to me now.

There are more issues but I know this is already a long post.
I am at a complete loss. We just had a baby, and when she cries it cuts through my brain and completely ruins me for the day.

If anybody can help, I would be eternally grateful. This has seriously screwed up my life and I think it could be permanent :-(

I am looking for advice or direction moving forward.

Thank you very much for reading my post and for your thoughts!

Thanks for your insight. I forget that I made this post and never thanked you.

Turns out I have Post Concussion Syndrome (diagnosed at 11 months) and I still have major memory and other issues 14 months later. I am considering a PWI MRI as all other imaging (CT Scan/MRI/MRA) say I am "fine"

Hi!
Well, symptom wise it does sound like concussion. A concussion can last for weeks after the head injury. The symptoms too vary from person to person. Headache, confusion, memory loss, dizziness, nausea vomiting, slurred speech and fatigue are common. Delayed symptoms include depression, irritability, sleep disturbances, seizures, loss of smell etc. A doctor generally looks for focal neurological or generalized neurological symptoms that would show there is a pressure on brain somewhere. In absence of these symptoms and based on the history a diagnosis of concussion is given.
Ischemic changes in frontal lobe can cause memory problems and emotional problems. It is possible that the changes are old and hence your doctor does not correlate the frontal lobe ischemia with your symptoms. You can take a second opinion from another neurologist. Also a neuro-pyschological assessment will help find the cause of your symptoms.
Take care!
