clueless!!!

Hello ladies, i am new to this forum.  I am 24yrs old with a beutiful healthy 7 1/2month old daughter.  We tried for 6 yrs and when i  accepted my life without children i found myself pregnant.  I am so vry blessed to have my daughter so i wonder if i am selfish to want another child. my daughter is truely an angel, and she LOVES other kids.  my other half and i both have a sibling close in age and if we are going to have/or try nd have more children i would like to give Lexis a sibling close in age to grow up with, my question is........... i am still breastfeeding my daughter, using no protection, no AF since aug 08 ha so NO clue to if i am ovulating, or if i havent strted yet due to bf.  how can i know??????

Hey Jen, I'm so glad you got your precious baby after so many years of trying! And I don't think it's selfish at all to want another one! I am not an expert on this, but it sounds to me like BFing could be keeping you from ovulating since you haven't had AF this whole time. I'm pretty sure that if you ovulated, you'd get AF since it's caused from the dropoff of progesterone that builds up after ovulation.

I read somewhere that it takes close to an year in many women to get their cycles regulated after child birth. I have no experience yet so cant answer this with confidence. But let me tell u one thing, u r not selfish to want to hv another blessing. You will still love ur first child so dont worry all the very best for ur ttc #2

From what I know breastfeeding can prevent some women to ovulate or have a period but not all there are women that still get pregnant while breastfeeding...Have you talk to your doct, I know they have medicine that can force your AF to come that is if you are not pregnant...you should talk to your doct to check what he recommends
