After taking Levaquin a year ago, can it still damage my Achilles tendon?

I had pneumonia in Feb 2017. Was on 750 mg of Levaquin for 5 days (1 per day). A few days after the last dose my left Achilles tendon was very sore. 1 month later, I went to my podiatrist. I had an MRI and it confirmed 2 tears in the tendon as a reaction to Levaquin. Had surgery in May 2017. In a cast for 3 months, then 12 weeks of PT. Today, still swollen, but was told it will last about a year. Now, 12 months after my doses of Levaquin, same Achilles tendon symptoms but now in my right ankle. And possibly feeling it in my right shoulder and right hip (but not sure if this is part of the Levaquin). This is awful! Feeling like suing, but can't anymore since J&J put out a blackbox warning a few years ago. However, I did not know of any side effects. Any comments or suggestions? Thanks

Hello~I am sorry you are having this experience.

I think I would ask the pharmacist about these reactions, sometimes they are more educated in the long-lasting side-effects in drugs than some doctors. I would also see your GP and discuss this with him/her. 12 months seems a very long time to be getting new symptoms.

If after you talk to your GP and pharmacist you still are having this issue, then maybe see a chiropractor, you may have some pinched nerves in the affected areas causing the pain in the areas that are bothering you. He/she will take some x-rays and after looking at them, discuss a plan of action. Hopefully after a few adjustments, you should start to feel better.
