Allergy

I'm a 28 year old female. First I had an ear infection then I had this feeling as if something is stuck in my throat. I went to the Doctor and was given Amoxcillin. The ear infection is gone but the feeling as if dust or hair is in the back of my throat (upper left, in the back, just behind the uvula is what it feels like). It's getting on my nerves. It doesn't hurt at all, but the feeling is driving me crazy sometime I start panicking. My family said I should stop thinking about it but I don't know how to stop. I have no fever, no swollen glands, and there's nothing visually amiss based on my inspection with a flashlight in front of the mirror. I am tired of visiting the ER but the end result is always allergies. I have been taken all different types of allergy medications. Nothing  seems to help. I have also used so many nasal spays I don't know what to do anymore. Upon visiting an ENT, he inserted a tube in my nose with a camera so he could see what was going on but I was told everything seems to be perfect. I've gargled, I've coughed, I've tried clearing my throat in different ways, but nothing is helping. I have carpeted floors in my residence and sometimes I wonder if this is could be affecting me. Now because i am Gargling so often ( with hydrogen peroxide) the roof of my mouth is now swollen making it hard for me to breath.

Any ideas on what could be going on? O any solution to this issue? Thank You

Hello,  I may be way off base, but the one  thing that I was thinking it could possibly be because of your description of what it feels like, and also since you have taken antibiotics which has a tendency to cause an increase in yeast in the body is
ORAL THRUSH.

Does your tongue look white/coated, too?  I have had many patients that I have cared for describe this as feeling like HAIR in their mouth, and when I was in school we actually learned this condition as oral, hairy, tongue and mouth.

The treatment for thrush is very simple and it might be worth a try.

The main treatment is  Nystatin Swish and Swallow-  It's like a mouthwash you swish it around in the mouth especially the areas of problem and then instead of spitting it out like regular mouthwash  you swallow it.
your doctor has to order these.
and
Diflucan- (which is an antifungal medication is only one tablet.

I Hope This Helps, Good Luck.

Hi
Welcome to the MedHelp forum again!
Since your last post, if all common causes of a feeling of something stuck in the throat or a foreign body sensation in the throat has been ruled out (post nasal drip, gastric reflux, allergy by a skin test or RAST panel, food allergy), then rare causes will have to be looked into. One is upper esophageal dysmotility—can be known by endoscopy and barium meal. Projecting superior cornu of the thyroid cartilage is another possibility and surgically trimming it can help. Esophageal candidiasis or fungal infection, gonococcal pharyngits, chemical burn of esophagus due to acid, and cancer of the esophagus are some other causes. Another possibility is irritation of the anterior fibers of C2-3 spinal nerves with spasm of the muscles attached to hyoid bone. This usually happens due to injury or postural problems causing curving of lower cervical spine. If everything is ruled out then the problem could be psychogenic and counseling may help.
Discuss these possibilities with your doctor. Hope this helps. Do let me know if there is any thing else and keep me posted. Take care!
