Brain lesions causing so much pain

My Mri showed I have several small punctuate lesions in my brain and I have also had an LP done to look for a cause.  All my tests are coming back negative.....MS, lyme, neurosyphillis, lupus, bacteria, etc.  These lesions are causing me so much pain in my head I can't stand it anymore. I am now on seizure medication just in case I may have one. I have constant bouts of lightheadedness, and unsteadiness when standing. I am now beginning to have heat where the pain is and sometimes tingling on my head and my face now.  I have no idea what is going on, and my neuro is baffled as well, and pretty much gave up on me.  I am just wondering if anyone knows what else can cause brain lesions? or if they can appear as something else in an mri?  Thanks.

You should look online for information about EXCITOTOXINS.  They are flavor enhancers added to most foods in the grocery store.  They cause brain lesions, deform the spines and neurological systems in fetuses growing in the womb - everyone conceived and born from about 1955 on was formed in the womb addicted to excitotoxins due to this fact.  MSG and aspartame are flavor enhancers, also.  So is soy sauce and shoyu.  The book "Excitotoxins The Taste That Kills" by Russell L. Blaylock, MD details the functions of all the parts of the brain and how excitotoxins destroy or disable it. There is a wealth of information about them online and in the media over the past few years.  A few food additives to avoid are:  modified potato starch (found in Lawys Garlic Salt, for example), hydrolyzed wheat protein (found in protein drinks in health food stores), autolyzed yeast extract (found in various brands of Cheese puffs and even a variety of organic seasoned chips corn, potato, rice, wheat, etc.), glutens in breads (buy sprouted grains only),  Please, do your homework.  I would be up all night typing.  Save yourself.  I did.  These poisons are in most foods found in the grocery store, also in prepared batters like for deep fried chicken - fresh and frozen alike.  Even in ice creams.  The corporations run the government and the Food and Drug Admiistration has been ignoring he medical evidence proving this since 1957.  God bless and pass it on.  Protect one more child from being born with autism.  No exaggeration.

I have a friend that is 38 years old and is wanting to know all of the causes of brain lesions. She has small dime size dark space feeling lesions on her brain. She has had an MRI, CAT SCAN, and also blood work done. She just recently had a spinal tap done. She just wants to know all of the causes so that she can find what matches her symptoms. They were thinking she had a stroke but now they think it's episodes of what ever is going on in her brain. She has had headaches for days on ends at times and doesn't have migraines. They are thinking MS but she doesn't have the paw pattern lesions as MS lesions are. She has confusion and her right side all goes numb and she has trouble using her right hand after this happens. She just wants to know a list of all the causes of brain lesions so she can see the if she has any of those symptoms. She is about to have all new Dr.'s on her case because her insurance is changing and the Dr.'s that have been on her case from day one doesn't take the new insurance. Can you PLEASE HELP !?!!

Can you please explain more on the left right shunt is that a procedure?
I had some dental work done December 13, 2007. THe next day while driving to work I had an episode where I became very off dizzt and diss oriented and started shaking like i have never shook. I did pre medicate for the dental procedure (amoxocillian) for a heart murmer as advised. I went to the ER the said that I was fine and didnt think the dental work caused the incident. Since then I havnt felt good fatigue, dizzy, off balance numbness on right side of face . My Dr ordered an MRI as result of all the symtons. They did find a lesion on the left side of my brain in a very small vessal and now say that that DAY of the episode I had a stroke. I am still experincing the same symtons I am 45 years old. I dont feel like it was a stroke. It has been in the back of my mind that maybe it had something to do with the dental procedure. I would appreciate any input on this.

Your nickname is ironic.  A left-right shunt can cause a stroke....and at 35.  I am 35.  I have a PAVM.  Get the bubble study done, please.  It could save your life.

I just came across your question and had to post another cause for brain lesions: a left to right shunt like a PFO (patent foramen ovule) or a PAVM (Pulmonary Arteriovenous Malformation.)  This is an abnormal connection between the arteries and veins.  Because your lungs filter out things like clots, air bubbles, chemicals and bacteria, if you have a left-right shunt some of those things can pass into your arterial blood and end up in places they are not supposed to, like your brain.  If bacteria goes to your brain it can cause a lesion.  When you have dental work, or even just a needle injection, bacteria can enter the venous blood supply and travel to your brain...if you have a shunt.  Your doctor can look for a shunt using the Doppler Bubble Study(aka contrast echocardiography or echo bubble)...relatively inexpensive and non-invasive.  I hope this helps you.

Yesterday I suffered visual disturbance for 8 hours.  I went to the er and they did not know what was wrong and stated I had a migraine.  But I did not have a headache at all.  So I went to my doctor who sent me to a neurologist.  He feels that it might of been a mini stroke.  I have an MRI, EEG, and a test for my Carotid Artery next week.  1hour before this episode I felt pressure and pain in my chest.  My doctor took an electocardiogram and said it's ok but much different than the last one I took 2 months ago.  Is it possible at 35 to have a mini stroke?

I have multiple lesions on my brain. All of my bloodwork has been normal. I get light headed alot, and have bad spells where the whole room is spinning, if i  dont sit down I will colapsse on the floor. I actually fell on a lady at the store one day, I put a 2.5 inch gash on my leg trying to get in bed. The burning gets so severe that Ive had to go run cold water on my legss, the burning seems to travel all over  my body. The pins and needles come and go . The paramedics thought i was having a stroke,. I am currently takining noritryptilene, methocarbomal, oxycodone as well as asthma medicine. I  cant tell if the medicine is working that well or not because nothing consistant. LIghts reading and the computor bother my head as well, some people voices irritate me. Driving at night seems to be a problem. My neurologis tell me hes heard of cases like mine but hes never had one, they dont have a clue what i have or what its caused form. Alls they can do is put me on medication to see what works. If you would like to e mail me to compare note ***@****

So now I'm a girl? Or am I? Demiguise is from Greek mythology.
I too have had my share of problems. Never thought I'd be using
my education to save my own life but that's how it went down.
Getting older/slower but try to give back just like you. I
learned a new rule recently too. 'daddies' pointed out that I
couldn't use nicnames in content-msg so all my help went into
space. Word to all. Then noticed she got bumped at a different
forum where she posted it. I'm still learning! Only regret is
I was helping a son w/ a rare eye tumor & can't find their post.
Thank you for your very kind words. And glad you got those
copies.

This does not apply to 71's question. Your answer is on pg2
in a few places. A complaint will also draw a scan to you. Many
rec'd hurt feelings. Everyone doesn't own a printer & have lost
answers to question. Learn from experience. May have noticed, we
all aren't adult on forum. Over 18 doesn't mean intelligent
judgement. Think/help & we'll all be fine.

Did that happen on this forum ("daddy")?

Listen another question for you. For almost four years now I have suffered from hives on a daily basis. Docs say stress Ha.
Anyway I have asked several doctors about hives getting in me internally and they sort of stare at me and say, not possible. I don't believe them. Can they? Remember the doctors think I'm crazy.

Hey, Demi - first I just wanted to tell you that even though this was not my post you responded to - you have been such a help to me and to others on this forum as well, I think.  Your knowledge - whether you are in the health care field or if it comes from lots of personal experience is much appeciated!  I have taken alot of your advice and it has certainly helped me in alot of ways - especially dealing with the frustration and anxiety.  I come here every day or every other day - mostly to read about others but looking for any little hint of something else (i don't know what :))! And I find that I have some of the other things that people wonder about  - or I've had personal experience with someone else.  It feels good to be able to give some clues to others.  I have to laugh because when i post an answer to someone, I'm thinking to myself....geez, you have alot wrong with you Charley! LOL  So thanks!!!!

JEMARIE, I think one of the first things I would do is get copies of your test results as Demiguise suggested.  She is right when it comes to having right in front of you - it's easier to tell where you've been and maybe where you need to go.  Make sure that you get copies of ALL tests.  My docs office only wanted to give me copies of a couple of blood tests.  I sat quietly and waited until the secretary finally gave me copies of EVERY TEST I'D HAD DONE IN THE LAST THREE YEARS OF GOING THERE!  I don't think she was a happy camper - but that's another story.  I wish you well and I hope that you find some comfort soon! take care

I'm so sorry you are having this problem. Neuro's aren't my
favorites since most are abrupt & dismissing. There are some gd.
ones though. Don't know what took you there, but MRI's are so
detailed to understand. They read one way sounding horrible &
then the other meaning could be simple. The word 'punctate'
means tiny dots/specks. They are not swelling. The surrounding
tissue or illness is the source. These can show up from lyme/
MS/Lupus/inflammation/vascular-disorder/Hypertension/etc. They
can actually happen from large-Urticaria (lg-Hives) that show up
outside as well as in. Sounds like it's a wait till something
more developes. MRI location many times helps + signal. Ex:
often Lyme is on T2 imaging. If report says scattered it can be
any disease causing inflammatory response from ?. Add in some
clinical evaluations & you get 'punctate white matter lesions'
from possible 'musculoskeletal stress'. Means skeletal inflamm.
These appear when there is slight damage to neurons not firing
correctly. Severe hypertension is example. Heavy stress causes
this pattern. Often people describe severe hd-prssr. Are you on
any anti-stress rx? Sometimes a simple lo-dose of Xanax 2Xday
helps release prssr. It has other uses than anxiety. It is a
smooth muscle relaxer & cheap (G). Lt-headed for 2 days till
adjust. Any rx that can calm you may help to separate stress
punctate from a disease. Dr's don't have the time to gives us
class in anatomy. Get all copies of tests for hm-file. Lets hope
something forms a pattern to you. Journal ea. day. Dr's zone
out if you use that word 'NET'. May need a new Neuro. Sounds
like you should have a Internal MD as family doc. GP/FP, just
haven't noticed them going the extra. Your frustration is all
over the boards. Don't focus on MRI. Center yourself & maybe a
daily set of symtoms will allow you to communicate w/ MD. Hope
I was able to help in a small way. Gd-luck.

I have tingling on my head and face also, but my MRI didn't show lesions, I do get menstrual type headaches that are located in the back of my head near the base of my skull.  I heard before that lesions are caused by migraines also, maybe that's what your problem is.  Do you have any other symptoms besides headaches?  Hope this helps some, I know how the facial tingling can make you feel, you worry everytime you feel it, I've had mine for 6 years, thats the reason for my MRI.  Take care!!
