I have had crazy cycles for about 4 months now and lately my cycle just comes on when it wants and stays on last month it stayed on for 32 days then went off for a week and then it came back on. As of today it is not on but I have a watery discharge and no blood.  I got a pep smear done last month when I got a slight break in my cycle and everything was good but this discharge just started about 3 days ago. Should I be worried? I am sexually active and I have never been pregnant. I am 30 years old

Hi
Yes, brown discharge and delay in periods can be caused by morning after pills. However a confirmed diagnosis can only be given by the gynecologist after examining you.
Hope this helps. Take care!

Hi there, I am verry worried and since Im having an appointment with the gyno no sooner than in 5 days, so I thought I could ask here for advice. My period comes usually on the 30th day, but this month its already 12 days late! What Im freaked from is that since Friday(3 days till now) Im having this brown discharge only when I go to the toilet and wipe. I havent had sex in 1 month and December my period was with normal bleeding and on the exact date. I also dont have nauseas or pain in the back etc. Could this brown discharge and the delay in period be caused by an "after sex pill" I took 2 months ago?

Hi
Welcome to the MedHelp forum!
Brownish discharge or bleeding through out the month could be endometriosis. The other possibility is andenomyosis where the cells lining the cavity of the uterus also enter the muscle layer of the uterus. Both can cause bleeding and brownish discharge between periods
Ovarian cysts may also be responsible for bleeding between periods. This can also be caused by fibroids of uterus, cervical polyps, inflammation of the cervix or cervicitis etc.
This could also be due to pregnancy. Hence get a pregnancy test and see.
Since a confirmed diagnosis cannot be given on net please discuss these possibilities with your gynecologist once. Hope this helps. Take care!

get a PAP smear test done for this and it will give you a clear idea what might be causing the problem. There is nothing serious worry about it.

A brown discharge is usually a blood discharge. If the bleeding is quite slight then it takes longer to reach the outside world and turns from red or black to brown in the process. Such bleeding can be caused by all kinds of things - most commonly infections and erosions (these are raw patches on the cervix).

There are many other possibilities and the only way to find out what is causing it is to go and see your GP and get examined or referred to a gynecologist for examination.

I suspect this is not going to go away by itself so go and get it attended to. Most of the possible causes are extremely easily treated.
