Someone please help end this suffering

I'm a 21 year old male and pretty healthy. I constantly suffer from lightheadedness, dizziness, foggy feeling, random numbness in extremities, and hot flashes. This all started back in June of this year, one day I was driving home from work (I just started working at a bank in April) and was sitting at a red light when out of nowhere I felt like I was gonna pass out. My heart beat was loud, I feel out of it, thought forsure I might be having some sort of heart or panic attack. I managed to make it home and laid down and felt a lot better, it subsided about 5-10 mins after it occurred. I didn't seek medical help because like I said at the time I was very active, on the go, never had any true health scares in my past, I wrote it off as maybe not getting proper nutrition or sleep. From that day forward my life changed, I constantly, to this day, get spells of the symptoms I mentioned at the beginning. I've been to the hospital and had numerous tests on my heart and blood pressure (stress, ekg, holter, etc.) and all came back negative. The doctors said it maybe just simple dizziness/vertigo and to take things easy. I feel like it's way more than that tho and I'm really running out of conclusions as to what it maybe. I've taken b complex, eaten more, cut out caffeine completely, sleeping more, tried melatonin to help w/ sleep/stress, but nothing is working :(. I read it may just be anxiety but I don't feel stressed whatsoever, it's weird too because sometimes I'll drank a protein shake or even something as simple as OJ and I feel like I've been hit by a ton of bricks. I don't exercise anymore now because when i go to the gym I feel like I'm gonna pass out after one set of a workout. I want my life back so bad but not sure how, anyone have any input? Please and thank you

Hi,
It took a long time to figure out what was going on with me. If you can't find anything out please check out (POTS) Postural orthostatic tachycardia syndrome or some form of dysautonomia. It can bring on tachycardia also nerve damage can be involved. It makes me dizzy no matter if I am standing or sitting (That might just be me.) I am told it is not rare just most docs do not know enough about it. Need's to be more awareness.. I am far from a dr. just a patient.
Good luck!

Hi Corey,

Your symptoms are suggestive of panic/anxiety, and it doesn't necessarily require you to be "stressed out" at the time of presentation.  When this occurs, try doing a simple exercise of breathing in through the nose and blowing out through the mouth slowly, make your breath out longer than your breath in...see if that helps you!  Many people suffer from panic attacks and or generalized anxiety without even knowing why, in some it just happens. I would book an appointment with your Primary MD and relate those symptoms at the visit, and let him take it from there.  Also, mention trying the above exercises and whether they help or not.  Take care and Good Luck!

Hello coreyhill12,

If it's alright, I'd like to ask you several questions in order to possibly help figure out a cause.

1. Are these events episodic or continuous?

2. What, if any, is the effect of head or body positioning on your dizziness(For example, tilting your head a certain way, lying down, sitting, etc.)?

3. Did you experience a head cold or flu-like symptoms before your symptoms first started?

4. History of any trauma or injury?

5. Past and/or current medical history(List every medical condition you have had or still do have, if possible)?

6. What, if any, medications?

7. Alcohol history?

8. Illicit drug use?

9. Any tinnitus or deafness?

10. Do you hyperventilate(breathe rapidly) during these "attacks"?

11. Any visual symptoms(Meaning symptoms related to your eyes)?

12. Any nausea or vomiting?

13. Heart palpitations(Meaning you are aware of your own heartbeats, or if you notice loud heartbeats, which you did mention)?

14. Symptoms of depression and/or anxiety?

15. Do you have symptoms such as palpitations, hot flushes, and night sweats?

16. Any headaches?

17. Any symptoms such as odd disturbance of smell, somewhat common deja vu, visual hallucinations, or absence attacks(These are classified as occasionally and suddenly staring into space for around a minute)?
