Convulsion?!?? Or rigors ?!?!? Or both don't know what to do

Hi, my son ended up in hospital after we called a ambulance Thursday night and the ambulance lady said he was having a convulsion, it went for about 20 to 30 minutes with what I saw, but I found him in bed shaking and no responding so it could have been happening longer before then, he was not responding to the paramedics and doesn't really remember going in the ambulance. While at the hospital he had another two, a nurse witnessed one and said she thinks his having rigours because he because responsive while having it but it only went for like two minutes the one at home was very long and distressing. They took bloods and did cultures and also they needed wee but he didn't wee for about 11 hours so the gave him a catheter. After that they said we could go home and they will call us and let us know whether we should just go get antibiotics from the doctor or bring him back in. Friday morning when we arrived home he as very tired as expected, didn't want to eat or drink anything and slept most the day, when he tried to drink he was telling me everything tasted dirty and he tried to eat dried biscuits and vomited them back up. His only two years old so he can't really tell me what's wrong, he just says I am sick etc, it's now Friday the hospital don't know whether he had a convulsion or rigors or both and said there was Bactria found in his blood or Thursday night but all the urine came back clear and the cultures are clear as well so they don't know what's wrong with him. So that's it they pretty much just leave it, until it happens again, I don't know what to do, how do I know they didn't miss something, I am left in the dark about this.

Hi Niko,
I know there's many factors that could have caused what happened, I am just very confused about it all, as a parent I had to panic, my partner on the other hand thinks I am thinking to much into it and his ok the doctors checked him out, I more or less just wanted to know if anyone had experienced anything like this. I have taken all you suggestions on board and thanks for your input, I appreciate it.

His back to himself, running around, the day after it happened he was off his food and seemed confused, he only had a fever at the time of the convulsions and after them cooled right down. His fine now you wouldn't even know if I didn't tell anyone

Hey Leah, I'm sorry about your son.
Please understand that seizures are notoriously difficult to diagnose.
They are often due to multifactorial causes and it is important to become an active partner in this investigation.
Noting subtle details, usually not available to medical personel, could help
identify potential triggers.
You know your son better than anyone else.
I don't want to side with the hospital and the doctors there, but, just to be fair, please set your emotions aside and try not to allocate blame.
They do as they are trained and in most cases,  there are more than one causative factors and not knowing of any triggers, makes it extremely challenging to explain.
Suspect are food allergies, gut dysbiosis, bacterial infection (you need to know what it is exactly), genetics, vaccinations-specially if followed by fever
and more...

Many sezures are benign and end up resolving on their own.

Seizure threshold is a significant variable which explains why some people
have seizures and some other don't under similar circumstances.
Hormonal, genetic, constitutional, dietary, environmental and other factors
play a role in this.

If seizures continue (I really hope they won't), please consider looking into ketogenic diets, which have shown a lot of promise in seizure treatment.

I hope this helps, however, please note that my comments and suggestions are not intended as a substitute for medical advice.

best wishes.
Niko

How is your son now? I mean does he have a fever, feel sick, or is he back to acting like a normal 2 year old that you cannot get to sit still for 30 seconds?

Yeah I know, it's not good enough it shouldn't just happen for no reason. I will take him to my local doctor but really the hospital should have had more answers then they are not sure! I just hope to find something out soon, I can't think or even think straight anymore with out worrying about this.

That is extremely serious, especially so for one so young. Their answer is unacceptable. Have you spoken to your personal doctor? Sought opinion from other doctors? Waiting for another seizure??
