Cough,cough,cough

I had the Flu in January, followed by cold and laryngitis. Lost my voice, got it back, but with this persisitant dry sudden cough, that can come anytime. I wake up with it, usually a coughing fit lasts from anywhere from 1-10 mins. After the coughing is over, i have to constantly clear my throat, until all the choaking sensation is gone. Its almost like swallowing into the wrong side of your throat. This is my first year in Phoenix, have tried, cough medicines, Mucinex,Zyrtec, Claritin, 3-4 courses of antibiotics, on my 3rd course of Prilosec and now taking Anti fungal antibiotic with it. Any guess, of what it is?? Cough gets worse when I lie down at night, but it comes when I am upright in daytime as well. Have a humidifier now in my room. Sucking on lozenges help but only temporary.
Please help me get rid of this nasty cough................

I did consider allergy, but then there is no pattern, coughing comes anywhere, anytime. Its more at night though, and will not let me sleep flat. I have to elevate my head. But in the daytime, it comes when I am sitting upright?? Cannot figure this out??

Get a blood test for Mycoplasma.  Make sure they send it to aspecialty lab.  If it comes back ppositive make sure the do a live blood analysis of the the type of Mycoplasmas.    If it is Mycoplasma it is tough to get rid of.  Antibiotics are used, but only the right antibiotics will work.  If it turns out to be Mycoplasma let me know.   Not a docotor but a mycoplasma sufferer.

The cough could be the result of an allergic reaction, you should check when and where the cough happens. Another possibility if that of some sort of pneumonia or other infection that occurred when you had that cold. The doctors probably checked all this already but additional symptoms are crucial for a proper diagnosis. You should note all other symptoms. Good luck.
