Digestive problems ? Blood in stool

I'm not too sure where to post this question as it says the digestive system forum is no longer taking questions.

I am an 19 year old girl I have had blood in my stool and mucus in stool for about a month/just over a month now, I have been too worried that is going to be something bad as my friend has chrons disease and hers started out just like this so I have avoided going to the doctors as there hasn't been much pain and no constipation at all.

I am going to the doctors later on today and I would just like someone to please explain to me the process/what they will do when I tell them about this as I am extremely worried and have a little bit of a fear of the doctors (Sad i know)

Can someone please get back to me?

Msc, first of all when you say blood in your stool is it red?
If so it may be a local tear or abrasion.
Now this is important if you see what appears to be black tarry stools , you need to get to a hospital ASAP as this is a symptom of a Gastro Intestinal bleed. So calm down and take care of yourself. Crohns is still considered a rare genetic condition so you may have IBS or similar.  Is there fever, frequent bowel movements ( some people have up to 20 BM's per day and mostly diarrhea with blood clots? And really painful cramps. There are many successful treatments these days for Crohns like Rimacaid.I have a best friend who has an active full life... (and eats all the right things without sacrificing taste or variety) and he was considered untreatable by the time he found the right doctor.

So take a breath and calm down.... that way you can make proper decisions.

Hope this helped and didn't frighten you any more than you were.

Yes red, the doctor explained that to me. They seem like the same colour they have always been but a change in texture and amounts of blood. And yes I don't have a fever but frequent bowel movements it is interrupting my day in work and I can't focus! Thank you so much for your response you really have made me feel better. I visited my doctor the day I posted this question and he done a few checks, and I have been to the hospital this morning to get my bloods taken. Fingers crossed! Thank you so much.

Well it is very good that you are going to the doctors. Blood in stool is never a good sign.

If you have Crohn's Disease this may be interesting: http://globalnews.ca/news/2968985/researchers-may-have-found-the-cause-of-crohns-disease/ or look up yourself "Researchers may have found the cause of Crohn's disease.
