I'm 17 years old, and lately i've been feeling dizzy. Everytime i lay down, my head spins, even when i wake up in the morning. What is causing my dizziness?

MEDICAL PROFESSIONAL
Hi
Welcome to the MedHelp forum!
You need to get examined to rule out a few things such as low blood pressure, postural hypotension (fall in blood pressure, cervical spinal nerve compression, hypoglycemia (low blood sugar), severe anemia, an underactive thyroid (called hypothyroidism), overactive thyroid (called hyperthyroidism), adrenal insufficiency (called Addison's disease), GERD or gastric reflux, and internal ear infections.
Please consult your PCP for primary examination followed by proper referral.
Take care!

you might have low blood pressure, go into a pharmacy , most have blood pressure checkers, if its too low, it can cause these symptoms...or...is there a possibility you are pregnant?  Iron deficiency could also be a problem

Vertigo.... i have had this before but i felt dizzy throught the day. I also suffer from aniema which added more to my symptoms. The MRI i had done did not detect my vertigo, instead my hemotologist was the one who diagnosed me. After a couple of head therapy manuvers i was on my way back to feeling like me agian. I also used the the low does drimamine OTC stuff found at any local pharmacy. That helped me get through the days until my therapy. i would suggest you see your Fam. Dr. he/she might do a few head postition test that will tell if you have vertigo or rule it out. You might be able to bypass the MRI and be sent to a ENT dr..... save you some money along the way..... Hope this helps and that you feel better very soon......

One common cause is benign positional vertigo.  It is an inner ear thing where these crystals that are always there get out of place and cause vertigo.  Viruses sometimes cause the problem.  It can be treated with physical therapy manuvers.  This is just one possible cause.  See a doctor, but ask about BPV as a cause before they make you just have a brain MRI and spend all that money for a benign, easily treated condition.
