Hi, well do you have any fever even like a low grade fever? Does it hurt when you breath in? Take a deep breath and do you feel a sharp pain or anything such as in the rib area? Are you fatigued? How long has it been now since you had this cough?

I am currently finished with my amoxicillin dosage and hasn't seemed to change much. Basically now the cough only persists throughout the night whenever I lay down or am exposed to the cold the cough comes back. The main time it is a problem is at night right before I go to sleep and as well as the morning when I wake up
It sounds like your strep throat is gone and you have a viral infection. If you only have a virus then you don't need an antibiotic. But, do you have pain when you breath in such as pain in the rib area? Did the doctor give you the amoxicillin, I mean rather than you getting on line? If it helps that would be great. Although amoxicillin won't help with Mycoplasma if you have it. If it doesn't work I would see your doctor again and also if he/she didn't give the amoxicillin.

I have a severe dry cough. I know I don't have strep throat because my throat is not sore at all. I am planing on taking amoxacilin to see if my situation is better
Hi and sorry you are ill. Do you still have the sore throat? Do you have a high fever? Usually, with a strep throat you don't have a cough or other symptoms. So this sounds like a virus rather than a strep throat. So, when you went it to the doctor what were your symptoms to start with? If you only had pus in the throat and a sore throat with a fever you had strep throat. Then if they did a strep test and it was positive the antibiotics didn't help the sore throat? Then I would say you need another antibiotic. If the other symptoms came later I would go back and see yoru doctor as it sounds like you ahve a secondary infection in your chest and may have walking pneumonia (Mycoplasma pneumoniae) or bronchitis. I am just trying to find what exactly happened to you. It does sound like you need to go back to the doc.
I would head back in to the doctor. It sounds like whatever you had before might have 'moved' to your chest. The first time I had bronchitis, the symptoms were very similar. Usually, a good doctor can tell you have bronchitis just by hearing you cough.
