The pain started roughly around the middle of November. It was on both the lower left and lower right of my stomach, it's an intermittent pain, on and off throughout the day and night. I haven't slept through the night since this pain started. It feels like a stabbing/burning pain which sometimes would get so intense it would radiate to my testicles and feel like I was kicked there. To rate the scale 1-10 I would rate it a 9. Its the worst pain I've ever felt, it's almost completely debilitating when it hits. I've also been very constipated for the entire duration of the pain. I dont have a fever throughout the day but frequently at night when I wake with the pain I notice I'm soaked in sweat. I can urinate fine with no problems. The doctors originally thought constipation and kidney stones, however treatments for both have failed to eliviate the symptoms.
Over the course of the last month I've tried a full course of Restoralax for 2 weeks, and a mineral oil enema. The enema seemed to help the most at the time but now it seems like the pain is gradually worsening again.
I've noticed now the pain seems to get more severe after I've eaten, and sometimes i get a pain in my upper left abdomen that I can feel in my chest. I can pass stool a little easier now but I still feel constipated and my stools come out in small solid pieces that look like they were squeezed through a play dough press. Sometimes there is blood in the actual stool itself. I can hear my stomach gurgling and if I press around on my stomach I can actually feel gas bubbles moving and popping. The only real change in the pain recently is that it doesnt appear to be as frequent, which could be because I'm eating less, and it no longer radiates to my testicles.
A few other small notes, I have upped my water intake, I'm eating more fruits and vegetables and less red meat, I've tried to intake more fiber, and I've replaced coffee with green tea.
I've been to the hospital 3 times and still haven't gotten answers, the 3rd time they just seemed more annoyed that I was there. I'm doing bloodwork and a stool culture I think it is this week and then unfortunately the wait to get to my family doctor is weeks so I'm just hoping to get some ideas here in the meantime. This pain is unbearable and it's making almost impossible to function throughout the day.
I tried to be as detailed as possible and I apologise if I left anything out but any help or advice or opinions would be greatly appreciated.
Signed,
A very, very tired and exhausted father who needs to get his life back
