Fed up with waiting for diagnosis

I have been having abdominal pain on my right side that radiates into my back for a couple of months now, and after being fobbed off with many painkillers I am finally going for an endiscopy. Doc says It might be an ulcer. Not convinced as I have pain in my lower back and stomach now and my back is tender to touch. Any ideas as to what it might be, Im getting very worried.

Hi,

I think it would be advisable to consult your doctor for the symptoms you are having and also get a  repeat ultrasound abdomen done.

Take some antinausea antireflux medications and see if it helps with your symptoms.

Let us know about what your doctor advises and post us about how you are doing.

Regards.

No investigation as yet, apart from scan which showed enflamed gallbladder, which I was given antibiotics for. The pain subsided for a time but is now back with a vengeance on and off. I am currently on medication for a rapid heartbeat (verapamil) but have been on these for about 5 years. No trauma that I can remember, but do sometimes get burning sensation in stomach, but there is more pain than burning.

Hi,

There could be several causes of the symptoms you are having.

Do you have any associated features of reflux, nausea, vomiting, change in bowel habits, etc?

Do you take alcohol? Are you on any medication?

Do you remember any history of trauma or injury to the site?

You would need to rule out GERD, gastritis, duodenal ulcers, chronic pancreatitis, etc.

Have any investigations been done as yet? Is there any releif with pain relief medications or antireflux medications?

Do let us know the above details and also post us about the endoscopy report.

Regards.
