It's very difficult to explain the sensation. For about a second before the "shock" I have an almost "pressing" feeling on my chest which varies between very hard to almost not there. Then there's the actural "shock" feeling that's centred in my chest. It almost feels as if my heart stops for a beat and the shock gets it going again - I can literally feel the next one or two beats in my chest. Now the thing is, it isn't regular and it varies in intensity so it's kind of hard to explain it.
I have been treated for depression about 10 years ago after I had a miscarriage and the death of a loved one, bit I'm fine now. I don't think there's anyone with Anxiety in our family. I'll make an appointment with another dr this week and ask for that monitor - maybe that will clear things up.
Cheers!
Right that makes things easier. Are your symptoms superficial or does the shock feel like it is inside you and does it travel or is it localised to the one spot?
Do you have a family history of Anxiety/depression? Some doctors do not even consider this, but here in Australia this condition is treated as serious and Health care professionals are trained to know the signs and symptoms of A/D. Here is some information on A/D.

However, this isnt to say that your condition may be more serious. If your ECG showed as normal when you didnt have the sensation, then ask your doctor for a 24-hr Holter ECG, this will Measure your heart for 24 hrs and will show any abnormalities in that period. Your family history suggests you could have congenital heart problems, but that isnt for sure.
It could also be stomach related. I would agree a second opinion would not hurt, especially considering that it could be your heart.
Sorry, blond moment... I am not and haven't been on any medication in ages. I'm actually quite healthy and just get the odd cold in winter or so.
Cheers!
Yep, I'm thinking the same thing.
Cheers!
No, I'm not on any medication.
Cheers!
I would see another Dr. Get a second opinion. My husband almost died because his Dr. didn't diagnose him correctly. He went to another doc who knew exactly what was going on. Sometimes a fresh eye works wonders.
Hi, quick question, have you been on any antidepressants recently and stopped them suddenly?
