Fever w/ Normal WBC

What can cause a high fever (104) with a normal white blood count?  My 1 year old has mitchondrial hypertrophic cardiomyopathy, not sure if that is significant at all.

Hi
Welcome to the MedHelp forum!
A high fever if tested too early, say within the first 3 days or so, can often show a normal white cell count as the body has not had the time to react. Leukemia and autoimmune disorders can cause fever with normal or low WBC. Please discuss this your kid’s pediatrician. Hope this helps. Take care!
