Flank, hip, leg and radiating pain with no diagnosis?

This may be a little longwinded so I apologise in advance...

Symptoms initially began as what I thought was a UTI that wouldn’t go away. Saw the nurse in the local practice and a urine test was clear. A few days later I noticed a tiny amount of blood when urinating so I went back and this time a urine test detected blood and leukocytes. I was prescribed an antibiotic, but a week later symptoms were still there. Pain then started around 4 weeks ago in my upper right abdomen and in my right hip. It wasn’t excruciating then but it was enough for me to visit my doctor. Actually the hip pain could be stabbing at times (bad enough to actually wake me at night), and the rest of the time it’s a constant dull ache. The pain is now also radiating down my thigh to my knee and groin, as well as having a constant back ache. My left leg can also sometimes ache. The groin area also feels a bit numb. Sometimes I think even both sides of the hip aches, but right side is worst. Even as I sit here at rest writing this my leg, hip and upper right abdomen is throbbing.

My doctor has suspected everything from kidney stones to appendicitis but it isn’t either of those (a quick hospital trip, an ultrasound and and internal exam ruled them and gynae problems out). She is adamant, though, that the right abdominal pain isn’t connected with the right hip and leg pain (!?).

I’m at the end of my tether with it now, as the hip, leg and groin aches are enough to stop me doing certain things. Has anyone any idea what this could possibly be? I’ve been told to now just take painkillers and basically live with it.

Hello~I hope by now you are feeling better, if not, I suggest seeing a chiropractor. You may very well have vertebrae in your lower back out of alignment and some nerve impingement. The chiropractor will take some x-rays of the area and then discuss the results with you. After a few treatments, you should start feeling better.
