Foot surgery 7 weeks ago. Foot still turns blue and bright red with spots

Had a bunionectomy and fusion performed on my left foot 7 weeks ago. At times my foot turns very blue and has white spots that run up my leg that usually turns red when foot turns blue. Is this just normal effect from trauma to that area or is there something serious going on?
Thanks for your attention...

Hi
Welcome to the MedHelp forum!
In all probability there is some infection in the blood vessels (phlebitis) or in the lymphatics (lymphangitis). It can also be an infection under the skin (cellulitis). Infection can also build up under the scar of surgery and this may need to be drained.
I suggest you re-consult the surgeon and get this examined. At times, clinical examination is enough to diagnose this. Lymphangitis or phlebitis may at times need color dopplar for diagnosis. Take care!
