Get really cold, bundle up and get really hot

I'm 67, had complete hysterectomy including ovaries. Only meds I take are ranitidine for reflux and some small cholesterol meds.  I eat lots of fruits and veggies, seldom have meat, except in stews or shrimp or chicken bits in my salads, no milk products, no soy, never use the microwave, use RO water, use only half-salt, so I'm thinking I have a very healthy diet.

I have chronic fatigue and fibromyalgia since 1995.  about 2 months ago I started getting these spells where I get very cold, freezing hands and feet, but no fever.  I bundle up in a robe and wrap in blankets and it doesn't seem to help. Sometimes when that happens I get very irritable, angry, moody.   Then after about 1/2 hour I suddenly start to get very hot, feel like tearing all my clothes off.  I saw my doctor and he took a blood test and didn't find anything out of the ordinary.  Sometimes I get heart flutters, I've had my heart checked out and it is alright.  I read somewhere that people with chronic fatigue tend to get brain lesions.  Since the cold spells come with mood changes sometimes, does that sound like I may have to see a neurologist?

I am in the same boat as you, except I'm 27 and do not have any problems with my ovaries. I've had many tests done and everything is showing that I'm "normal", except for a small vitamin B12 deficiency (I don't eat meat). The symptoms you've described is exactly the same way I feel. I get chills, especially when triggered by a cold environment, my hands and feet get ice cold, but when I bundle up and get warm, the chills go way and I become really warm and my hands and feet become really hot and red. Sometimes I get a racing heartbeat and skipped beats. I've had chronic fatigue since I was little; sometimes I get really tired and weak and don't have any energy, especially in the evening.

Have you had any tests for vitamin deficiency? Have you tried taking vitamins like vitamin B12 and vitamin D? If you don't eat meat or dairy products, you might have a deficiency in both.

I started taking both vitamins regularly and I've seen an improvement, but I'm still convinced that I might have some other problem like hypothyroidism (even though my TSH test is normal) or maybe my failed root canals which might be infecting my mouth and body.

Hi
Welcome to the MedHelp forum!
The symptoms you are having are quite similar to having menopause. This is aggravated after total hysterectomy. The symptoms are taken care of by hormone replacement therapy. Please consult a gynecologist regarding this. In your case this would be required more because of removal of ovaries.
Hope this helps. Take care!
