HELP!!

Earlier today i was sitting down and suddenly i got this weird head rush and i thought i just moved too quickly or something, but then i started to feel numbness begin to take over my body. Then i started to feel like i needed to puke. I ran to the trashcan and layed down with my head on the floor and then the numbness centered into my hands and arms. I believe at this point i was breathing very quickly, almost hyperventilating. A friend asked if i was okay and i tried to tell him what was happening, but i couldn't speak correctly. I couldn't pronounce certain hard syllables, like the D in "head". It felt like my tongue was possibly numb. I could get words out but with a lot of effort. The feeling subsided after about 5 minutes and i drank water and ate some food. Should i see a doctor or go to the hospital if this ever happens again? It's the first time.

I am a nurse and from what you have described, sounds like a TIA, or a mini stroke. This is a warning to you that you should seek medical treatment ASAP because the next time it happens it may be a full Stroke or Cerebral Vascular Accident. You will have to have some tests to determine your blood flow and vascular status. This is not something to wait on. Seek attention today at the ER.
