Head Pain, Dizziness, Spaced Out and Weak

6 mos. ago I went to the doc about a severe and tender spot on my head (I was also very dizzy and disoriented). It is back but with the following: extreme left ear pain, vertigo, 24/7 head pressure, tender spot on left side of head, forgetfulness, nausea, extreme fatigue, very sore and stiff neck/back/shoulders, lack of concentration/foggy thoughts, weak arms and legs, feeling flushed and a feeling that my head weighs or is holding up 5 pounds of sand in it. Just an overall malaise but with the other physical symptoms that make my days very hazy and disoriented. No meds have helped like migraine meds or pain killers. Just had 2 MRIs. No results yet. Any suggestions? I'm very worried being only 28 ( a teacher and want to continue to stay active and healthy !) ... Any thoughts on what next? Blood work or tests?

my daughter is 12 years old she has been having alot of medical problems last summer she had stomache pain very severe, they did test ,after test I felt so sorry for her every thing came back normal .finanaly we got a surgeon to listen to us he agreed to remove her appentics .come to find out  she   had a plastic piece in her appendix.when they were removed she was like her old self again ,going back to school making new friends it was so great . Then out of the blue  she starts having really bad dizzy spells almost knocking her off her feet , then two days later she started having pain in her head .The pain is about a quarter size she says it hurts all the time but gets worse.of course all the test have come back normal & part of me is glad but part of me just wants an answer so she can get well & have a great life.she has now broke out in a rash they think it has nothing to do with eachother but I'm not so sure .please help if you can.                                              thank you, concered mom

Lyme disease  can cause an unbelievable array of neuropsychiatric symptoms, including panic, anxiety, depression, mood swings, dizziness, depersonalization, etc... It is commonly misdiagnosed as fibromyalgia, MS, ALS, vertigo, Parkinson's, bipolar disorder, anxiety disorder, clinical depression,  and other autoimmune/idiopathic illnesses. At this point in time, most doctors are positively clueless regarding Lyme; the  rampant ignorance is astounding, as is the hostility to learning the truth about Lyme .

Google Dr.Joseph Burrascano's diagnosis and treatment guidelines.  Turn the Corner Foundation is another good resource to start with  when getting accurate info on Lyme.  ILADS (International Lyme and Associated Diseases Society) are the group who understand Lyme best.  The IDSA (Infectious Disease Society Association) is not a good resource at all; they are a big part of the problem.

Since November 2007 I've had two trips to the ER, thinking that I was having a heart attack or stroke.  I've had an MRI, two chest x-rays, a CAT scan of my chest, lots of blood work, and a laryngoscopy.  At least that's all I can remember.  I've been put on BP medicine for the first time (I'm 60), and my internist thinks I need to be on anti-anxiety medicine.  I've had two episdoes of coughing up a small amount of red blood, had a red rash across my face several times, have constant fatigue, some headaches, lots of muscle aches, burning in my throat, weakness in my limbs, and I can't think of what else?  I'm concerned about lung cancer, although I'm not a smoker, nor am I around cigarette smoke.  It wouldn't be work related either.  My internist, in frustration, told me to go to the Mayo Clinic for diagnosis.  I've got an appointment with a local pulmonary doctor on Monday.  I should have been sent there first, after the first bleeding episode.  I don't see how this is going to turn out good, but if, by some strange chance it does, I'll happily take the anxiety medicine.

I'm not a doctor, but I would look into two things.
1.  these symptoms could be caused by needing glasses.  Do you have glasses/contacts?  How old is your prescription?  Get a new one.  I know someone who had almost exact symptoms and she just needed new glasses, believe it or not.
2.  This could easily be stress or panic attacks.  I wouldn't abandon this avenue of inquiry.  There is no stigma to this.  It is just as powerful as having some other disease.  good luck.

You have so many things in common with me lizzy that it is spooky except mine has been going on for about five YEARS and I am still looking for an answer.
First, I'm a teacher, too.  This first started in my classroom one day and I was instantly so dizzy, sitting on a stool, that I almost blacked out.  Sure is a good way to put fear into fifth graders!  Went to Urgent Care and they said my cholesterol was up and that might be it, but not likely.
Next time I was in a grocery store and just as suddenly, became very naseaus, sweaty, and then it was lights out.  Luckily someone caught my fall.  This time (by the way I hit nothing) I had a HUGE bruise on my left hand.  Again, my dr. said it was nothing.
My dizziness continued and with it I became extremely run down.  Run down to the point that when I get tired, I don't really care where I am, it is real hard to stay awake.  My dr. told me my iron was down and so I dramatically increased my iron intake...no change.

As I continued to complain about my dizziness, face tingling, numbness in my right arm my doctor continued to refer me all over the place.   Ear, noes and throat man said nothing was wrong and sent me to a Neurologist.  The neuro said the ENT should have done and ENG test, which she ordered.  That was a trip, they TRY to make you dizzy and watch your eyes the whole time to determine if you have inner ear damage.  Mine...borderline so could be...could not be, not sure.

Sent me for and MRI and an MRA, both normal.  Numbers of exays on my neck...nothing.  Ultra sounds of my coratid artery, normal.  A trip to a rheumatologist, totally normal.

The last dr. I went to actually said gee, maybe you need to learn to handle stress and then handed me valium.  I cried.  He then told me that MAYBE I should start over and go to a neurologist again, but he really didn't think I needed to.  Then questioned why I "didn't follow his orders to go."  He never gave me any orders.

Now again, it is back once more in spades!  This time I have a new little thing going on...my left temple hurts like #)$*#$!  Badly enough that it woke me up both last night and the night before.  I almost passed out at the store again, I think they are afraid of me.  I keep questioning my doctors to see if it is possible that I am having small strokes and they just look at me.  Keep asking.  My guess is someone has to figure it out someday.

Good luck to you.
Nancy

First of all, this sounds exactly like the thing I have been sorely afflicted with for the past week and a half.  I took some tylenol, and it only helped a little.  When I went to the ER, they did blood work (Full bloodwork, I suggest you get it done if you haven't had it yet) and it was clean.  No lack of white cells or anything.  So they sent the blood work off for West Nile Virus testing, to see if somehow I had gotten West Nile (incubation period is usually 2-15 days).  I haven't gotten those results back, and last night, I felt terrible.  Muscle weakness in legs, dizziness, eyepain, neck pain, throat pain, ear pain, nausea, disorientation, lack of concentration--the works ~_~`
Well, this OTHER doctor--I went to a different ER, because my ER sucks--said that it was an issue with my Inner Ear.  He gave me some Antihistimine to bring down my dizziness and to dry up some of the fluid that was in my ears.  I feel a little better, but I also have to go back to the doc to get a total check out (again).  So, go to your doctor and have some blood work done--you might have a simple sinus infection or, who knows, something might be wrong with YOUR inner ear!
