Head/face pain & swelling

I have been experiencing the following symptoms every few months for the past 30+ years:

Pain, tenderness and swelling of the scalp, eye, nose, gums, throat and face, teary eye and runny nose.  BUT all of this only happens on one side of my head/face at a time.  I have never been to the doctor because it seems so silly and is usually only a nuisance (3-4 on the pain scale.)  I would firmly believe it was all in my mind if it weren't for the visible swelling and tearing.  Any ideas on what it might be?

It might have something to do with your sinuses-some type of blockage? or could be something totally different. I would have a check up with the doctor

No, I haven't but that's a good suggestion.  Thank you.

Wondering if it may be from sinus infections they can be ongoing and long term, possibly from allergies, there are OTC meds and also alternative treatments .Have you put this up on the alternative med forum?
