Help

I had the Fulkerson procedure done on April 3rd on my left knee. About 3 weeks after surgery I had a small hole open on my incision. It has since gotten quite a bit bigger and my therapist and surgeon cannot tell me why it won't close up. They keep packing with aquacell but no improvement. Dr used a Pico dressing last Friday and I go again Friday to see if there has been any improvement. It does not look infected just refuses to heal. What should I do now?

It is too deep to close up but I do think I am going to ask about blood work. the hole is just about as big around as my husbands thumb and you can see the screws that were put in my leg. I am just not very patient. Thanks for responding1

Follow the directions of your doctor and be patient.
Have they not suggested stitching it up, or is the hole too deep?

Ask the doctor if he could run some blood tests on you.
Wounds are very slow to heal in diabetics and with some blood disorders.

Best wishes.

Back in the day, Milk of Magnesia was used to close wounds.  Ask your doctor if you should try it. ... can't hurt.
