Hernia complications

I had a mesh put into my stomach wall to seal off a hernia. 8 months later i still have discomfort and mild pain in the pubic area. The pain radiates across both sides of the pubic area. It is impacting parts of my life. Has anybody had the same thing and what was done about it?

I too had a mesh put on a hernia repair that is located where your appendix would be. I was told because of the pelvic pain that   it is possible that the mesh has fell apart. Sometimes the mesh can get tangled in your lower intestines, or the scar tissue can also cause you to have pain. Do not give up. Keep going to the doctor to find out about your problem. I hope you can find your answers.

Hi
Welcome to the MedHelp forum!
A pain very similar to your pain following hernia repair by mesh has been noted in many patients. The likely causes are: recurrence of hernia, adherence of the bowel to the edge of the prosthetic (mesh); adherence of the bowel to the tacks; and trocar (from where the laproscope was inserted) site adhesion or herniation. All these can be treated by cutting the adhesions by another laproscopy. The other possibilities are nerve entrapment in between muscles or due to the tracks of muscles changing direction post surgery.
Since I cannot examine you and know other related conditions you may be having, nor is a detailed history possible on net, I have listed the various possibilities that should be looked into. Please consult your doctor. Take care!
