hi am a 17 year old female. i have been experiencing the same pains in my lower ribs right through to my hips. this has been continuing for over a year now. i have been to the doctors and done various ultrasounds, UGI tests, colon oscopies etc. there has been nothing wrong with any of the tests. however i am low in iron and have a high white cell count. i am constantly tired and nauseous. i can barely eat and when i get the opprotunity to its rarley wants to stay down. i have become depressed and have lost interest in everything and everyone around me. i have taken medication for my stomach before but it had done nothing for me but make me worse. i repeatedly have bladder infections and the trend seems to be getting worse. i have seen a gastrologist and he has said that there is nothing wrong with me and thinks that i just have an eating disorder because of my age. what can i do if doctors will not take me seriously?
Hi
Welcome to the forum!
There is a possibility that you have acidity or GERD or hiatal hernia. Omeprazole is a good drug to combat this. Along with it you can try over the counter antacids. However I would recommend you see a doctor and take medication under a doctor’s supervision. Avoid heavy meals. Avoid too much of caffeine, tea, fried food and drinks both alcoholic and non alcoholic fuzzy ones. Avoid heavy exercises within 4 hours of a heavy meal. Raise the head end of the bed by pillows to 30 degrees. Go to bed at least 2 hours after food.
Try this. It may help you.
Also there is another possibility. You could be having compression of a thoracic nerve. Consult a chiropractor or a neurologist too.
If you have bowel disturbances then it could be due to IBS or gluten sensitivity etc.
Hope this helps. Please let me know if there is any thing else and do keep me posted. Take care!
hi iam 28 years old and i have been feeling some extreme pain and lightheadedness. Ive been to the doctors numerous times and they always say nothing is wrong up until last year when my new primary care doctor sent me to a urologist and he sent me for a cat scan. The cat scan came back that I had gallbladder stones. Woohoo great answer. I have been experiencing the worst pain in my chest under my rib cage on both sides and also my lower back and lightheadedness. I cant take it anymore. Iam depressed and just lost to the world i feel like i dont care about anything anymore. My girlfriend thinks Ive changed but honestly iam just so sick of hearing Doctors say theres nothing wrong i know my body and i know there is something wrong. Can u give me some advice?
Hi
Thanks for the detailed post and I am sorry I was late in replying, adding to your anxiety.
Abdominal pain that radiates to the back can be due to gall bladder problems like cholecystitis and biliary colic. However this pain is only on right side of abdomen. Pain on both sides could be due to involvement of kidney. Similarly pain due to abdominal aortic aneurysm, pancreatitis, aortic dissection and duodenal ulcer may appear as both side pain or pain starting in one side and moving to the other and to the back. In your case it could be a combination of gallbladder problem and duodenal ulcer problem. I understand a CT has been done. Was it whole abdomen?
High WBC count is generally seen in infection, but could also be due to a tumor. It definitely needs further investigations. In your case even the small ovarian cyst should be further investigated as ovarion tumors and cysts that get tortutous too mimick an abdominal pain that may radiate to the back.
You may have to undergo some tests like kidney and liver function tests, some hormone analysis as you have an ovarian cyst, abdominal ultrasound, differential count of WBC to know the types of WBC and a peripheral smear to see the conditions of the cells in the blood to reach a diagnosis. A clinical examination by a doctor will also be very helpful.
However it is difficult to diagnose without examining. So please consult your doctor. Hope this helps. Please let me know if there is any thing else.
Does anyone have any thoughs or ideas
