I have an itchy, throbbing pain in my jaw, what could be the cause?

I have had x-rays, seen a dentist and a doctor. I have no idea what is causing my jaw to still hurt. It comes and goes but it is very annoying. Any ideas?

Hello~I sounds like it could be related to your TMJ (Temporal Mandibular Joint) It can be very annoying and painful.

If the doctors are not willing to help, then see a chiropractor, some will actually gently adjust the jaw and this helps immensely, mine does this to me, and it does help. Your jaw could even be out of alignment a wee bit, and that could be causing the pain, again, an adjustment in that area could be of great benefit.

Hope you feel better soon.

I had pain under my ear for more than a year. It was caused by a necrotic tooth for a few years that my dentist was only able to discover when the filling broke. He said it had been dead for a long time.
This doesn't sound like what you describe, but is an example of how hard it can be to locate the solution to dental issues.

You might have temporomandibular joint (TMJ) dysfunction. My sister, mother and myself all have TMJ but symptoms vary. My mother had three healthy teeth removed as the dentist misdiagnosed the cause of her tooth pain! I never have tooth pain with TMJ but my symptoms include sore jaws, jaw cracking, jaw lock.

I have a insect biting and an itch feeling that comes and goes all over my body. There is no inflammation and pushing or touching it inactivates it, but it can show up a few seconds later somewhere else.
It is strong enough that it really hurts once every day or so. A neuro guy and a few docs said it is just something that will always be there so you might be stuck with it too.
