I need help fast! (Itchy labia)

Every time anything comes into contact with my genital area it becomes INFURIATINGLY itchy for days after.  So much so that I can't not scratch, which results in cuts and bleeding.  I first noticed it when I came into contact with latex condoms, so I assumed it was a latex allergy.  Since being with my partner I have had him buy latex-free condoms but (for other reasons) we couldn't use them so I have begun contraceptives myself.  My point being that it was not the condoms.  We don't use condoms now and even just oral sex makes me so itchy that I cannot sleep at night.  I have tried everything!!!!!!!!!!  I tried sleeping with and without clothes, took antihistamines, applied emollient creams and steroid creams (Hydrocortisone 1%) but absolutely nothing has worked.  It got to the point last night where my partner had to help me shave off all of my pubic hair then stand in the shower with the water on my 'area'.  If he wasn't so understanding I'd be embarrassed, but for me it's just incredibly upsetting.  I've been reduced to tears several times in private.  I feel like I can't even have a normal relationship without my health coming in between it.

The itching worsens after sexual contact.  It tends to progress from one kind of itch to another.  At first it feels almost 'sharp'.  There is an all over itch but every minute or so it feels like tiny hair-thin needles poke into the skin and it makes me flinch and wince.  Then, after trying to remedy that, it becomes extremely irritated, as itchy as bad eczema.  I'm quite often forced to lock myself in my bathroom (I live with my parents) just so that no one knows that I am suffering from this.  I'll put on Eurax Crotamiton Cream, which STINGS, then heats up until my area feels like it's immersed in hot water, it's uncomfortable but does reduce the itching to a certain extend.  The itching seems to start near the top, then progress downwards to my clitoral hood, inner labia, vaginal opening and perineum - respectively.

That's about all the information I can think of.

Please, if you know anything about this, offer any advice you have as it is seriously upsetting me and causing my mood to decrease greatly which is extremely worrying considering I have just overcome a 6 year battle with clinical depression.

Thanks for your advice, guys.

I spoke to my mother and she suggested trying thrush treatments.
I bought a pessary and cream from the pharmacy and it has disappeared within a day, I am so relieved.  It's amazing, really.  I had no idea it was thrush, it was so extreme that I thought it had to be something much worse.

Also, @apleasuretoburn, it has to be thrush because I have only slept with my partner and he has only been with one woman before me.  I got swabs done when I got the IUD implanted recently anyway.  Thanks for your advice!!

why have you not gone to the doctor? I would seriously consider getting tested for all STDs to eliminate this as a cause

MEDICAL PROFESSIONAL
Hi
Welcome to the MedHelp forum!
Itchy labia without any symptoms (no swelling, redness, smell, cuts, abrasions or discharge) can be due to an allergic reaction to toilet paper, skin creams, shaving, soap, shampoo, undergarments, condoms etc. Look back and see if there is a change in any of these. Otherwise it can be due to STD like herpes, gonorrhea, Chlamydia etc. Bacterial vaginosis too could be a cause.
Stress and anxiety too can cause itchy labia without any other symptoms. Lichen sclerosus is an extremely itchy skin condition that can affect the vulva too. There are many other causes like thrush, trichomoniasis, psoriasis, etc but they cause other symptoms too.
Since I cannot examine you and know other related conditions you may be having, nor is a detailed history possible on net, I have listed the various possibilities that should be looked into. Please consult your gynecologist to run tests and examination to clinch a diagnosis.
Take care!
