Well, I went to my PCP yesterday to have my chest pains checked out. They also said that they are not convinced that it has anything to do with my heart because my blood pressure and everything checked out. I am still having some occasional pain. My PCP pressed on a spot on my chest and on my back that reproduced the pain and it hurt pretty bad so he said that he was inclined to say it was musculoskeletal. I have been under a lot of stress and am prone to panic attacks. He said that I could have had a panic attack which can almost mimic the symptoms of a heart attack. Also...when i move certain ways, breathe in deep or raise my voice I have pain in my left shoulder and around my left breast. So, I guess if they all say it is not heart related then I should believe them right?
First of all, the paramedic should be reported. They should lose their jobs. Their diagnosis was way above their pay grade. I'm sure they had you sign an "RMA" to cover their behinds, and left to hang out with the cupcake girls.
The four lead EKG used by the paramedics is not a 12 lead used by the hospitals.
Furthermore, an irregulatity would only show while the heart was actually experiencing ischemia.
That night you required what is known as a cadiac enzyme test.
As doctornee suggested, there are other possibilities. I am not entirely convinced there is a cardiac etiology. But the yellow flags are waving.
Cardiac pain is generally not positionally relieved. The juxtaposition of sweats, pain and arm discomfort meant you needed to be evaluated at a hospital.
You require an immediate evaluation at a facility that will provide a cardiac evaluation.
That means as of yesterday.
A written complaint should be made to the State Board of Health and to the Hospital from whom the ambulance was dispatched.
Hi
Welcome to the MedHelp forum!
Well if it was chest pain with left arm pain then first thing to be ruled out is heart attack, which you rightly did by calling the ambulance.
The other possibility is severe acidity with GERD or gastric reflux. It could also be hiatal hernia. Treatment is a combination of drugs to reduce the acid and lifestyle changes. You will need to take a combination of medications (under medical supervision) like a proton pump inhibitor such as omeprazole, lansoprazole or pantoprazole empty stomach in the morning and an antacid gel after meals for complete relief. Possibility of H pylori infection too should be looked into by a carbon urea breath test and a combination antibiotic tried.
Life style changes that will help include: Avoid heavy meals and eat frequent small meals. Avoid too much of caffeine, tea, smoking, fried food and drinks both alcoholic and non alcoholic fuzzy ones. Avoid heavy exercises within 4 hours of a heavy meal. Raise the head end of the bed by pillows to 30 degrees. Avoid lying down for least 2 hours after food. Maybe these tips will help you.
You should consult a gastroenterologist (a specialist who looks after the diseases of our digestive system) or a physician for this if these tips reduce your symptoms. You may need upper GI endoscopy for confirmation and to know the degree of damage.
If these tips do not help you, then it can be an anxiety and panic attack. You must then consult a psychologist.
It can be a pinched nerve but unlikely as there is chest pain. Shingles is another possibility that can be explored.
Hope this helps. Take care!
Go see your doctor asap it may be heart problems or it may be a pinched nerve but either way your heart is not something to play around with. To be safe I would have it checked then if it turns out to be a pinched nerve at least you can go ahead and have it treated with the peace of mind that your heart is fine.
Other symptoms to look for also include nausea and jaw pain with heart attack symptoms Hope all is well
yes i agree with above better check again with your doctor. good luck
You still should see a doctor. You may need more extensive tests. There may are be some kind of infection brewing. A blood test would be good. Trust yourself. If you don't feel right, don't let someone else try to convince you that you are fine. Start with your PCP and take it from there.
