Joint Pain and hand numbness while sleeping

Hello I've posted on here before, but quick overview.

Diffuse, symetrical joint pain: wrists, unlar hands, ring fingers, knees, ankles.

Pain is generally mild and seems to come and go with the weather.

Have been tested for autoimmune diseases (Rheum Art., lupus, etc) and was negative.  Have appt. Feb 6 with Rheumatologist.

No restriction of motion or weakness in any joint, just mild pain.  Duration 4 months.

Now, just the last 4-5 nights I've been experiencing hand numbness about 1x/night while sleeping.  Mainly this has been on the ulnar sides of the hands (pinky finger) but recently 1x it was just the medial part (thumb and adjacent 2 fingers).  Usually it is just 1 hand, although sometimes if I sleep on my back, both ulnar regions will get numb.  Numbness goes away quickly on waking and moving the hands as if I had slept on them.  I've never experienced anything like this before, usually if I sleep on a limb the whole thing goes numb.  I'm going to try wearing braces tonight to see if I am compressing the wrists while sleeping.

Oh, I'm a 35 y.o. male, very active, average weight (could lose 10-15 pounds to be at ideal).  No significant prior medical hx.

Any thoughts...do these symptoms go together in a way that indicates anything in particular?  I'm stumped.

I too am suffering from the joint pain in all of my upper body, and waking up at night with my hands feeling swollen and numb and tingly.  I have hypothyroid, which they have run tests on my TSH and it comes back at a good level, so now doing a more extensive Thyroid test (I saw a Rheumatologist) if these come back normal, they are going to diagnose it Fibromyalgia

hi - i'm 37 and i've had that same migrating joint pain you had, and i recently broke out in hives where the joint pain came back again (the joint pain has been on and off for years).  this time, my shoulders ached, and then my right hand felt numb/prickly.  i've tested negative for the autoimmune diseases thus far.  my blood work is normal.  please write to me if you have found what causes this.  also, if anyone else has my symptoms and any ideas, i would love to hear from you. ***@****

I too have this problem of pain in right arm while sleeping only.  I find relief when I hang my arm down over the mattress.  It seems that the circulation goes back to normal.  It also goes back to norman if I get out of bed and walk around.  I will be seeing a neurologist in a few weeks.
