Labia majora is swollen and sore but not from sex

My right labia majora is swollen and a little red and stiff. I have never had sex so i know its not that and im not sexually active my finace is in the marines and i havent seen him in months. I do have bacterial vaginosis but i really dont think it has anything to do with that though i am using sapositories for that. Anyways, i just started shaving completely down there, 3 days after i started my right labia majora got sore and red and stiff there is no puss or bumps its only red and stiff and a tad swollen. I cant walk comfortably or even sit comfortably. I dont have benefits and though i dont want to say im poor, but i dont have 100 dollars to give a gyno, i dont really have much money. Im not sure what to do, i just bought some triple anti-bacterial cream and some ibuprophin (anti-inflammitory). Its seems kinda far fetched that some creme and some pain pills will clear up a swollen labia majora but hey if it really can work i will do it. What im asking is does that sound right? Is there anything else i should be doing, maybe a home remedy or is this really the best thing short of going to the gyno. My finace comes home in 2 weeks after being gone 6 months and i want this gone before he gets back i wont see him again another year!!!! Please please help me!!!

Thank you for posting some help i definently will try that. What i have been doing is taking anti-inflammitory medicine and putting triple anti-biotic on it. I didnt think it would work and it didnt seem like it had done anything till a day or two later, the swelling has greatly gone down and there is barely any pain, i think it will be completely gone in a few days. And about the bacterial vaginosis it seems like it will never go away, my doctor gave me some pills that cured it for a day, and then it came back and then they gave me a gel and that was pointless.

MEDICAL PROFESSIONAL
Hi
Welcome to the MedHelp forum!
What you have is probably a Bartholin cyst. On each side of the vaginal opening there are Bartholin's glands which secrete fluid to lubricate the vagina. At times their openings become obstructed causing fluid to accumulate in the gland, resulting in relatively painless swelling called a Bartholin cyst.
You can soak in a tub filled with a few inches of warm water (sitz bath) several times a day for three or four days. This may rupture cyst and which will then drain on its own. If this does not help, then please consult your gynecologist for incision and drainage.
The other possibility is allergy to the suppositories you are using, especially if the swelling started after you started the suppositories. Bacterial vaginosis can be treated by a course of metronidazole also.
It could also be allergy to soaps or shampoos you use or to shaving razor if you use any.
Hope this helps. Please let me know if there is any thing else and do keep me posted. Take care!
