Legs go stiff when running

Hi there,

My stepson battles to run. When he starts running, his legs go really stiff and the knees hardly bend. Physically there is absolutely nothing wrong with him. He is at an extremely fit weight and really strong. Its just strangest thing that all the musscles in his legs contract when he starts running. I'm wondering if it could be something to do with his reflexes, for eg, when he snaps his fingers he does it slow motion. He cannot "flick" his fingers fast. It is so weird and i promised him i'll do research, but i'm not having a lot of luck onthe net...
Apparently its been like this since he was born...

I would really love some feedback on what it could possibly be, and whether there is a type of sport or exercise he could do to improve it.

Thanks!

Maybe you should take him to his doctor if you can. They may refer him to a neurologist or maybe even an orthopaedic doctor. I'm not sure. Besides the running, he never has issues with walking up stairs or up hills or any issues like that?

No, luckily he doesn't have any other issues. He goes to the gym with us so he is exercising - he has a really nice muscular build, its just the reflexes that are so slow.... :-(
